Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a chronic inflammatory demyelinating disease of the central nervous system that primarily affects young and middle-aged people. It is widely accepted that B lymphocyte activation is required for MS progression. Despite the fact that the exact triggering mechanisms of MS remain enigmatic, one may suggest that MS can be induced by viral or bacterial infection in combination with specific genetic and environmental factors.

This study presents the results of intraoperative ultrasonic Doppler measurements of the linear blood flow velocity in the superior sagittal sinus in patients with parasagittal meningiomas. Based on the obtained data, venous blood flow in the brain is analyzed.

The results of examining patients with parasagittal meningiomas were first compared by angiography and intraoperative ultrasound diagnosis. The significance of each method was defined. A correlation was found between the data obtained by the two techniques and the functional status of the upper sagittal sinus by taking into account each angiographic phase.

The content of uridine-diphosphate (UDP)-saccharides, such as UDP-glucose (UDPG) and UDP-N-acetylglucosamine (UDPAG) was examined in the meningiomas obtained at surgery. Typical, atypical, and anaplastic meningiomas were used. Biochemical data were compared with histological findings.
