[Transurethral holmium enucleation of prostatic adenoma].

Laser (holmium) enucleation of the prostate (LEP) for infravesical obstruction caused by prostatic adenoma up to 60 cm3 in size was made in 42 patients in the Moscow city urological hospital N 47 from January to July 2009. Transurethral resection (TUR) of the prostate was made in 42 matched controls. All the patients from both groups have undergone the same standard clinical and laboratory examination before the treatment, 1, 3 and 6 months after it.

[Tamsulosin in combind treatment of patients with urolithiasis].

In administration of tamsulosine (focusin, Zentiva, Czech Republic) in combined treatment of urolithiasis concrement evacuation after extracorporeal lithotripsy occurred in 83% cases in patients with the concrement stay in the ureter for less than one month. The size of the concrement after successful lithotripsy had no significant effect on subsequent stone-eliminating therapy but long-term stay of the concrement in one place promoted inflammatory and urodynamic disturbances in the ureter treated surgically. The comparative analysis of the contractile function of the distal ureteral comparment in patients given tamsulosin showed a less active (amplitude of the contractions) and passive (tonicity) resistance to urine flow than in patients given a standard therapy.

[Ho-YAG laser contact lithotripsy in transurethral treatment of the concrements of the upper urinary tract].

The article presents original experience with the treatment of 192 patients (90 males and 102 females, age 3-84 years) who have undergone transurethral laser contact lithotripsy for concrements of the upper urinary tract. Four patients received one-stage treatment for bilateral concrements. Size of the concrements detected before surgery varied from 0.

[Long-term results of endoscopic treatment of urethral strictures].

The aim of the study was assessment of efficacy of internal urethrotomies made in Research Institute of Urology and city urological hospital N 47. A total of 802 endoscopic operations were performed in 644 male patients aged from 16 to 89 years (mean age 58.6 years) with urethral stricture in 1994-2004.
