Evaluating growth-factor release in leukocyte- and platelet-rich fibrin, advanced platelet-rich fibrin, and injectable platelet-rich fibrin protocols: a narrative review.

Since its introduction in 2001, multiple platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) centrifugation protocols have emerged, but the variations in growth factor release that result from these protocols remain unclear. This review aimed to evaluate growth factor release across three PRF protocols: leukocyte-PRF (L-PRF), advanced-PRF (A-PRF/+), and injectable-PRF (i-PRF). A comprehensive search was conducted using the MEDLINE and Embase databases, identifying 14 studies that met the inclusion criteria.

A systematic review and meta-analysis on the use of regenerative graft materials for socket preservation in randomized clinical trials.

Objective: To evaluate if regenerative materials with/without scaffold deployed in dental socket preservation led to reduced radiographic height and width bone resorption.

Study Design: English-written human studies from January 2010 to December 2023 were selected from PubMed, EMBASE, MEDLINE, Cochrane CENTRAL, Google Scholar and manually searched journals. Six meta-analyses were conducted, addressing treatments with all blood-derived growth factor preparations as well as L-platelet-rich fibrin (L-PRF) separately, and recombinant human BMP-2 (rhBMP-2).

Virtual and traditional surgical planning in orthognathic surgery - systematic review and meta-analysis.

Traditional surgical planning (TSP) and virtual surgical planning (VSP) have been used in bimaxillary osteotomy planning. The time is taken in the planning and operating stages, and the working/doctor/total time of either approach are useful determinants of the efficiency of the operating method and quality of care. This systematic review and meta-analysis examined if VSP has a comparative advantage over TSP in the bimaxillary osteotomy.

Background: Reconstruction of the auricle is challenging to surgeons as a result of its complex anatomy. Defects including the conchal bowl and the external auditory canal (EAC) do not accept imperfection as functional consequences may add to aesthetic ones. Local flaps that are relying mainly on posteriorly based auricle flaps do not represent ideal solutions.

Safety and feasibility study of using polyphosphate (PolyP) in alveolar cleft repair: a pilot study.

Polyphosphate (PolyP) is a physiological polymer present in the blood, primarily in platelets. PolyP plays a role as a phosphate source in bone calcium phosphate deposition.
