An early accelerated rehabilitation is generally recommended after surgery for acute Achilles tendon ruptures (ATRs). The modified side-locking loop suture (MSLLS) is a surgical technique that provides high tensile strength to the repaired Achilles tendon and allows for a safe, early accelerated rehabilitation protocol without requiring postoperative immobilization. However, there are no reports investigating the clinical outcomes of the MSLLS technique with early accelerated rehabilitation for ATRs.

Background: It has been reported on the relationship between the medial cuneiform bone morphology, especially in terms of obliquity, and the severity of hallux valgus (HV), however, no consensus has been obtained. On the other hand, there are no reports on the relationship between the difference in height between the medial and intermediate cuneiforms and the severity of hallux valgus. The purpose of this study was to clarify the relationship between the medial cuneiform bone morphology and the severity of HV.

Article Synopsis
  • A chronic Achilles tendon rupture (ATR) is defined as a rupture that happens more than 4-6 weeks after the initial injury, with various corrective techniques available but often requiring long recovery times.
  • Several corrective methods, including direct repair and free tendon grafting, can yield good results, but prolonged immobilization may lead to risks like falls, especially in older adults.
  • The report discusses two elderly patients with chronic ATR treated using a side-locking loop suture (SLLS) method, allowing for early rehabilitation and increased mobility without the need for prolonged immobilization.

Fragility fractures of the talar neck are extremely rare. Here, we describe a case of fragility fracture of the talar neck associated with osteoporosis in a 76-year-old female, who was treated by posterior-to-anterior screw fixation under hindfoot endoscopy. A 76-year-old female cleaner with a history of osteoporosis complained of pain in her right ankle when going downstairs.

Purpose: Combined anteversion (CA) technique (stem-first procedure) is generally accepted as the optimal technique to attain an appropriate CA value in total hip arthroplasty (THA). However, cup anteversion is strongly influenced by the native femoral anteversion. Accordingly, anterior protrusion of the cup in the acetabulum might occur.
