The adsorption behavior and dispersing capability of hyperbranched phosphated polycarboxylate superplasticizers (PCEs) containing phosphate monoester and phosphate diester were investigated. The hyperbranched structures were constructed using a special monomer dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate (DMAMEA) to create the branches during the polymerization. Meanwhile, the polymer architectures were tailored by varying the content of phosphate monoester and phosphate diester in the backbone via free radical solution polymerization.

Graves' orbitopathy (GO) is an organ-specific autoimmune disease, but its pathogenesis remains unclear. There are few review articles on GO research from the perspective of target cells and target antigens. A systematic search of PubMed was performed, focusing mainly on studies published after 2015 that involve the role of target cells, orbital fibroblasts (OFs) and orbital adipocytes (OAs), target antigens, thyrotropin receptor (TSHR) and insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor (IGF-1R), and their corresponding antibodies, TSHR antibodies (TRAbs) and IGF-1R antibodies (IGF-1R Abs), in GO pathogenesis and the potentially effective therapies that target TSHR and IGF-1R.

Background: Congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH), which is caused by a mutation of the steroidogenic acute regulatory (StAR) gene. Affected patients are usually characterized by adrenal insufficiency in the first year of life, salt loss, glucocorticoid and mineralocorticoid deficiency, and female external genitalia, regardless of chromosomal karyotype. Patients with non-classical lipoid CAH usually develop glucocorticoid deficiency and mild mineralocorticoid deficiency at 2-4 years of age.

Fabrication of absorbent materials foroil/water separation is an important ecological pursuit for oil spill clean-up and organic pollutants' removal. In this study, nanodiamonds (NDs), a promising member of the carbon family, were functionally modified by the covalent linking of octadecylamine (ODA). Subsequently, the superhydrophobic sponge with hierarchical microstructures was fabricated by embedding ND-ODA into a melamine sponge (MS) skeleton via a simple immersion-drying process.

Several articles have indicated that circular RNAs are involved in pathogenesis of human cancers. Nevertheless, the role of circ_0091579 in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) progression remains to be revealed. Quantitative reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction was carried out to examine the expression of circ_0091579 and miR-1287.

One novel nanoplatform with multiple functions including Raman imaging and photodynamic therapy (PDT) capacities was constructed through modifying nanodiamonds (NDs) with photosensitizer chlorin e6 (Ce6). The NDs-Ce6 nanoparticles show enhanced singlet oxygen generation efficiency relative to free Ce6. Cytotoxicity tests indicate that NDs-Ce6 have negligible influence toward HeLa cells vitality under dark condition but enhanced photodynamic ablation upon 660 nm laser irradiation in comparison with free Ce6.

With the advent of high spatial resolution remote sensing imagery, numerous image features can be utilized. Applying a reasonable feature selection approach is critical to effectively reduce feature redundancy and improve the efficiency and accuracy of classification. This paper proposes a novel feature selection approach, in which ReliefF, genetic algorithm, and support vector machine (RFGASVM) are integrated to extract buildings.

A high efficient and eco-friendly sugarcane cellulose-based adsorbent was prepared in an attempt to remove Pb, Cu and Zn from aqueous solutions. The effects of initial concentration of heavy metal ions and temperature on the adsorption capacity of the bioadsorbent were investigated. The adsorption isotherms showed that the adsorption of Pb, Cu and Zn followed the Langmuir model and the maximum adsorptions were as high as 558.

The secondary geological disasters triggered by the Lushan earthquake on April 20, 2013, such as landslides, collapses, debris flows, etc., had caused great casualties and losses. We monitored the number and spatial distribution of the secondary geological disasters in the earthquake-hit area from airborne remote sensing images, which covered areas about 3 100 km2.

The Three-River Headwaters (TRH) region in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, China, is of key importance to the ecological security of China and Southeast Asia and contains some of the most sensitive and fragile ecosystems. Monitoring and evaluating the ecosystem service function and its changes in the TRH region could support decision-making for regional ecological protection and restoration programs. Referencing the concept of ecosystem service and the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment (MA) framework, this study built a system of indicators for monitoring and evaluating the ecosystem service function.

The vegetation is one of main drying carriers. The change of Vegetation Water Content (VWC) reflects the spatial-temporal distribution of drought situation and the degree of drought. In the present paper, a method of retrieving the VWC based on remote sensing data is introduced and analyzed, including the monitoring theory, vegetation water content indicator and retrieving model.
