Lymphadenopathy after Covid-19 Vaccine: Preliminary Ultrasound Findings.

During a spontaneous and autonomous study, we assessed the ultrasound finding of lymphadenopathy after Pfizer vaccine. We enrolled 18 patients with 58 lymphadenopathies: in 10 patients, they were in the laterocervical side, while in 8 patients in the axillar site. The largest diameter was 16 mm with a range from 7 to 16 mm (median value = 10 mm).

Background: Biloma, an encapsulated collection of bile outside the biliary tree, supported by a predominantly iatrogenic biliary fistula, and bile likeage are two of the most important surgical complications after liver resection. We, hypothesized to conduct a project aimed to prevent, or reduce, the formation of biloma or biliary fistula applying on the hepatic resection area the cyanoacrylate glue (Glubran2).

Methods: We searched in our surgical database all patients underwent liver resection for mCRC from January 2013 to December 2018 and we found a total of 510 patients.

Covid-19 infection in cancer patients: the management in a diagnostic unit.

Background: COVID-19 infection is particularly aggressive in frail patients, as cancer patients. Therefore, the more suitable management of the oncological patient requires a multidisciplinary assessment, to identify which patients should be treated, as inpatients or outpatients, and which treatments can be procrastinated.

Conclusions: The role of radiologist is crucial, and, all cancer patients who need an imaging evaluation will need to be studied, using the most appropriate imaging tools related to the clinical question and paying a special attention to preserve public health.

Materials And Methods: We included, retrospectively, 150 patients with histologically confirmed lung cancer who underwent chemotherapy and baseline and follow-ups CT scans. Using the QIDS platform, 3 radiologists segmented each lesion and automatically collected the longest diameter and the density mean value.

Trauma, Sleep and Mental Health Problems in Low-Income Young Adults.

Low-income young adults are more likely to have exposure to trauma, which increases risk for mental health problems. Although adequate sleep promotes good health, people with histories of trauma are more likely to have sleep problems. The current study explored whether poor sleep mediated the relationship between trauma exposure and mental health.

Involvements of Hyperhomocysteinemia in Neurological Disorders.

Homocysteine (HCY), a physiological amino acid formed when proteins break down, leads to a pathological condition called hyperhomocysteinemia (HHCY), when it is over a definite limit. It is well known that an increase in HCY levels in blood, can contribute to arterial damage and several cardiovascular disease, but the knowledge about the relationship between HCY and brain disorders is very poor. Recent studies demonstrated that an alteration in HCY metabolism or a deficiency in folate or vitamin B12 can cause altered methylation and/or redox potentials, that leads to a modification on calcium influx in cells, or into an accumulation in amyloid and/or tau protein involving a cascade of events that culminate in apoptosis, and, in the worst conditions, neuronal death.

Current status on response to treatment in locally advanced rectal cancer: what the radiologist should know.

The assessment of tumor response, after neoadjuvant radiochemotherapy (nCRT), allows stratifying the patient in order to consider the proper therapeutical management. Histopathology analysis of the surgical specimen is considered the gold standard to assess tumour response and the definition of a complete cancer response is related to the clinical and endoscopic features, by direct evaluation of the rectal wall. However, imaging studies, especially Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) have provided additional parameters, as the evaluation of nodal or mesorectal status.

Factors Affecting Contraception Access and Use in Patients With Opioid Use Disorder.

Maternal opioid use disorder increased > 4-fold from 1999 to 2014 and is associated with poor maternal and fetal outcomes. Women with opioid use disorder are at 2 to 3 times greater risk for unintended pregnancy than the general population and may face additional barriers to accessing and effectively using contraception compared to women without opioid use disorder, particularly highly effective long-acting reversible contraception. Additionally, women with opioid use disorder tend to use less effective forms of contraception such as condoms alone.

Store-operated calcium entry (SOCE) is important in the maintenance of calcium homeostasis and alterations in this mechanism are responsible for several pathological conditions, including acute pancreatitis. Since the discovery of SOCE, many inhibitors have been identified and extensively used as chemical probes to better elucidate the role played by this cellular mechanism. Nevertheless, only a few have demonstrated drug-like properties so far.
