Single compounds displaying a wide range of luminescent colors are attractive optical materials for sensor applications. In this study, we present the beneficial combination of a cyclometalated iridium(III) complex scaffold and boronic acid units for designing stimuli-responsive luminescent materials with various emission colors. Five iridium(III) complexes bearing a diboronic acid ligand (bpyB2) were synthesized: Ir(C^N)bpyB2 (C^N = 2-phenylpyridine (1), 2-(2,4-difluorophenyl)pyridine (2), 2-(4-methoxyphenyl)pyridine (3), benzo[h]quinoline (4), 1-phenylisoquinoline (5)).

In this paper, we study some complementary inequalities to Jensen's inequality for self-adjoint operators, unital positive linear mappings, and real valued twice differentiable functions. New improved complementary inequalities are presented by using an improvement of the Mond-Pečarić method. These results are applied to obtain some inequalities with quasi-arithmetic means.

[ALK-negative anaplastic large cell lymphoma with loss of CD30 expression during treatment with brentuximab vedotin].

A 59-year-old woman with anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL), ALK-negative, was treated with brentuximab vedotin (BV) against relapse after 6 regimens of systemic chemotherapy and radiation. Despite achieving an initial response, skin lesions worsened after 11 courses. A skin biopsy after the development of resistance to BV confirmed loss of CD30 expression by the tumor cells, suggesting a possible cause of resistance.

Background: Cardiovascular diseases, osteoporosis, and depression are identified comorbidities of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), but there have been few reports of chronic kidney disease (CKD) as a comorbidity of COPD. The objective of this study was to investigate the prevalence of CKD in COPD patients using estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) based on creatinine (Cr) and cystatin C (Cys) levels.

Methods: The prevalence of CKD and the values of various CKD-related parameters were compared between 108 stable COPD outpatients (COPD group) and a non-COPD control group consisting of 73 patients aged 60 years or more without a history of COPD or kidney disease.
