Reassessment for reference values for total nucleated cell count and myeloid/erythroid ratio of human bone marrow aspirate.

Total uncleated cell count and Myeloid/Erythroid (M/E) ratio of bone marrow aspirate in Japanese was determined in 1962 and no reassessment has been done until now. Therefore, the reassessment work has been performed using our laboratory data. Criterias for healthy individuals were settled and data obtained were applied first for probability plot analysis chart and data which gave asymmetry for the distribution curve were expelled.

Correlation of fasting blood glucose and haemoglobin A(1c) measured with an automated analyser.

A subtype of glycohaemoglobin, haemoglobin (Hb) A(1c), in specimens of whole blood was assayed on a new automated analyser that makes use of high-pressure liquid chromatography. The analyser provided precise and reproducible values. The mean of the HbA(1c) values was lower than that with an older instrument.

Inaccuracy and imprecision of reticulocyte counting.

Reticulocyte count is an essential clinical test to detect erythropoietic activity. The test has been done manually with the use of one of three dyes: new methylene blue, brilliant cresyl blue, and azure B. When reticulocyte counts with the different dyes were compared, correlation was good.

[Screening for colorectal carcinoma in AMHTS (automated multiphasic health testing and services)].

A mass survey program for the early detection of colorectal carcinoma was tested on asymptomatic persons who visited the AMHTS (Ningen-Dokku). During a 10-month period, 4574 of 8216 persons over the age of 45 years participated in this program. They were screened by the 3-day fecal occult blood test using guiac method.
