Kerion celsi due to Arthroderma incurvatum infection in a Sri Lankan child: species identification and analysis of area-dependent genetic polymorphism.

A three-year-old Sri Lankan boy residing in Japan developed a nodule on his scalp after visiting Sri Lanka. Two months later, the lesion increased in size to 22 × 19 mm(2), and was identified as an erythematous nodule with alopecia. Direct examination of the infected hair shafts indicated fungal hyphae outside the shafts.
