Dental findings and intravenous sedation in a patient with Potocki-Lupski syndrome: A case report.

Aims: Potocki-Lupski syndrome (PTLS), which is caused by the partial duplication of the short arm of autosome 17, is characterized by feeding difficulties associated with muscle hypotonia and dysphagia in infancy, followed by growth retardation and low body weight in later stages. Speech and motor developmental disorders are observed in childhood, accompanied by autism spectrum disorders in several cases. Other disorders include dental and skeletal abnormalities, and associated sleep apnea.

Factors associated with transient bradycardia during local anesthesia administration to the oral cavity under intravenous sedation: A retrospective cohort study.

Background/purpose: The possibility of triggering the trigeminocardiac reflex (TCR) during oral surgery is considerably lower than that during other surgeries. A reduced heart rate (HR) of ≥20% from baseline is usually considered a diagnostical criterion for the TCR. Our automated anesthesia charting system often revealed cases of slight transient HR decrease during sedation.

Transient hypertension with urinary tract infection in congenital hydronephrosis.

Introduction: Hypertension is occasionally associated with congenital hydronephrosis.

Case Report: The authors report a four-month-old boy with severe left congenital hydronephrosis and transient hypertension triggered by his first urinary tract infection (UTI). Despite the satisfactory UTI clinical course, he suddenly developed severe hypertension (130/80 mmHg) on the ninth day of UTI.

Septic Arthritis Caused by Haemophilus parainfluenzae : A Pediatric Case Report and Literature Review.

We report a healthy 5-year-old boy without apparent risk factors who developed septic arthritis of the hip from Haemohilus parainfluenzae infection. A literature review revealed only 4 pediatric cases of osteoarticular infection caused by this pathogen. To our knowledge, our case may be the first pediatric case of septic arthritis of the hip caused by H.

Starch is stored temporarily in the leaves during the day but degraded during the night. In this study, we investigated the relationship between diurnal changes in starch content in rice leaf blades and the mRNA levels of β-amylase genes. CO -responsive CCT protein (CRCT) is a positive regulator of starch synthesis-related genes such as ADP-glucose pyrophosphorylase large subunit 1 and starch branching enzyme I particularly in the leaf sheath of rice (Oryza sativa L.). The promoter GUS analysis revealed that CRCT expressed exclusively in the vascular bundle, whereas starch synthesis-related genes were expressed in different sites such as mesophyll cell and starch storage parenchyma cell.

We examined whether co-overexpression of Rubisco and Rubisco activase improves the photosynthetic and growth performance of rice under high temperatures. We grew three rice lines-the wild-type (WT), a Rubisco activase-overexpressing line (oxRCA) and a Rubisco- and Rubisco activase-co-overexpressing line (oxRCA-RBCS)-and analysed photosynthesis and biomass at 25 and 40°C.

Combined Use of a Gum Elastic Bougie and Video Laryngoscopy for Intubating a Patient With an Unexpected Laryngeal Papilloma.

This is a case report of a 75-year-old man scheduled for apical resection and cystectomy of odontogenic cysts involving both maxillary central incisors who presented with a previously unknown laryngeal mass that was discovered prior to intubation. Following induction and easy mask ventilation, direct laryngoscopy revealed a large mass on the right side of the glottis that impeded passage of a standard oral endotracheal tube. Successful atraumatic intubation was performed with the combination of a video laryngoscope (King Vision, Ambu Inc, Ballerup, Denmark) and a gum elastic bougie (GEB).

Interfacial interaction of anesthetic lidocaine and mesoporous silica nanoparticles in aqueous solutions and its release properties.

Lidocaine has been used as a local anesthetic by injection. The controlled release of lidocaine loaded into nanospheres is necessary to reduce the onset time of the anesthetic effect or increase the anesthetic analgesia duration. In this study, mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) with a large specific surface area were prepared by a sol-gel method, and the interfacial interaction between MSNs and lidocaine positively charged in aqueous solutions at different concentrations was investigated by adsorption tests, Fourier-transformed infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetry-differential thermal analysis, and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) measurements.

Perioperative Management of a Patient With Cornelia de Lange Syndrome and Tetralogy of Fallot.

This is a case report of a 21-year-old male patient with Cornelia de Lange syndrome (CdL) and unrepaired tetralogy of Fallot scheduled for dental treatment under general anesthesia. Anticipated dental care consisted of restorative treatment and extractions. Surgical correction of the patient's congenital cardiac abnormalities had not occurred by the time of dental treatment.

Background: A recent neurocognitive model of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) has proposed a primary deficit in reward function as well as in executive function to account for underlying neural substrates of ADHD symptoms. CO2-Responsive CCT Protein Stimulates the Ectopic Expression of Particular Starch Biosynthesis-Related Enzymes, Which Markedly Change the Structure of Starch in the Leaf Sheaths of Rice.

CO2-responsive CCT protein (CRCT) is suggested to be a positive regulator of starch biosynthesis in the leaf sheaths of rice, regulating the expression levels of starch biosynthesis-related genes. In this study, the effects of CRCT expression levels on the expression of starch biosynthesis-related enzymes and the quality of starch were studied. Using native-PAGE/activity staining and immunoblotting, we found that the protein levels of starch synthase I, branching enzyme I, branching enzyme IIa, isoamylase 1 and phosphorylase 1 were largely correlated with the CRCT expression levels in the leaf sheaths of CRCT transgenic lines.
