The guidelines were drafted by the Wound, Pressure Ulcer, and Burn Guidelines Drafting Committee delegated by the Japanese Dermatological Association and intend to facilitate physicians' clinical decisions in preventing, diagnosing and management of lower leg ulcers and varicose veins. We updated all sections by collecting documents published since the publication of the first edition.

Background: Vasohibin-1 (VASH1), an angiogenic inhibitor, exhibits tubulin carboxypeptidase activity, which is involved in microtubule functions. Paclitaxel, the core chemotherapeutic agent for ovarian cancer chemotherapy, has a point of action on microtubules and may interact with VASH1.

Our study finds that mucositis-induced oral dysbiosis in patients post-hematopoietic cell transplantation associated with increased chronic GVHD (cGVHD) even in patients receiving post-transplant cyclophosphamide. In murine HCT models, oral dysbiosis caused by bilateral molar ligatures exacerbated cGVHD and increased bacterial load in the oral cavity and gut with Enterococcaceae significantly increasing in both organs.

Further, we started performing single-port mediastinoscopic cervical approach in 2014, and developed a technique for total mediastinal lymph node dissection. Atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) is a circulating hormone released from the atria in response to wall stretch and volume overload in the setting of heart failure. When atrial fibrillation (AF) becomes long-standing persistent, ANP secretion in response to volume overload is impaired due to degenerative changes of the atria. Here, we report a case of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction and impaired ANP secretion due to long-standing AF.

Novel reconstruction using pedicled ileocolic interposition after laparoscopic total gastrectomy: A report of two cases.

Introduction: Although Roux-en-Y reconstruction using the jejunum is generally performed after laparoscopic total gastrectomy, the postoperative function is inadequate. We designed a novel reconstruction technique using pedicled ileocolic interposition with laparoscopic anastomosis of the esophagus and ileum, and further anastomosis of the colon and duodenum. Background: Simultaneous surgery for synchronous double cancers of the esophagus and lung is so invasive that minimally invasive surgical procedures are preferred.
