Aberrant immune responses to viral pathogens contribute to pathogenesis, but our understanding of pathological immune responses caused by viruses within the human virome, especially at a population scale, remains limited. We analyzed whole-genome sequencing datasets of 6,321 Japanese individuals, including patients with autoimmune diseases (psoriasis vulgaris, rheumatoid arthritis (RA), systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), pulmonary alveolar proteinosis (PAP) or multiple sclerosis) and coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), or healthy controls. We systematically quantified two constituents of the blood DNA virome, endogenous HHV-6 (eHHV-6) and anellovirus.

Disentangling the contributions from fluctuations in the nuclear overlap size (geometrical component) and other sources at a fixed size (intrinsic component) remains a challenge. This problem is addressed by measuring the mean, variance, and skewness of P([p_{T}]) in ^{208}Pb+^{208}Pb and ^{129}Xe+^{129}Xe collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.

In natural interactions, gaze behavior serves two functions: signal transmission and information gathering. While expert gaze as a tool for gathering information has been studied, its underlying cognitive processes remain insufficiently explored.

Semaphorin 4A (Sema4A), an immune semaphorin, is known to take part in T helper type 1/17 differentiation and activation. However, Sema4A is also crucial for maintaining peripheral tissue homeostasis and its involvement in skin remains unknown.

In this case report, a psoriasiform eruption appeared on the face and extremities following the onset of KD. A review of previous reports identified 38 cases of psoriasiform eruptions following KD, typically appearing 4 days to 2 months after the onset of KD, unlike other skin manifestations associated with the disease.

The guidelines were drafted by the Wound, Pressure Ulcer, and Burn Guidelines Drafting Committee delegated by the Japanese Dermatological Association and intend to facilitate physicians' clinical decisions in preventing, diagnosing and management of lower leg ulcers and varicose veins. We updated all sections by collecting documents published since the publication of the first edition.

Remimazolam is a newly developed benzodiazepine. Early recovery from anesthesia because of its ultra-short acting effect and less hemodynamic side effects has been reported as the specific advantages of remimazolam. Therefore, the maintenance of anesthesia with propofol may be sometimes switched to remimazolam anesthesia maintenance during surgery because of the risk of delayed awakening and unstable hemodynamics.

Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a complex autoimmune disease characterized by fibrosis, vascular abnormalities, and immune dysfunction, with no definitive cure. Patients with progressive pulmonary fibrosis face a high mortality risk, underscoring the urgent need for effective treatments. Although fibroblasts are recognized as key drivers of fibrosis, the precise molecular mechanisms remain poorly understood.

In this study, we investigated the molecular mechanisms underlying the protective role of USP2 in mitochondria. The knockout (KO) of the gene or the chemical inhibition of USP2 induced a robust accumulation of mitochondrial reactive oxygen species (ROS), accompanied by defects in mitochondrial membrane potential, in C2C12 myoblasts.

This study explored the safety and feasibility of using a single-joint hybrid assistive limb (HAL-SJ) exoskeletal device for upper limb paralysis in patients with acute stroke. In total, 11 patients with stroke (6 with moderate paralysis and 5 with severe paralysis) were enrolled between October 2021 and October 2023 in a stroke care unit.

However, the relationship between children's experiences of celebratory events and their behavioral development has not been previously quantified. Therefore, this study aimed to quantitatively explore this relationship.

We attempted to administer intranasal DEX premedication in this case to an adult patient with intellectual disability who previously had difficulty tolerating premedication with oral midazolam. Using an intranasal atomization delivery device (MAD Nasal, Teleflex), we administered 1.

This study aimed to characterize the cellular composition, tumor tissue diversity, and cell-cell interactions in ACPs and PCPs using single-cell RNA sequencing. Single-cell clustering revealed diverse cell types, further classified into developing epithelial, calcification, and immune response for ACP and developing epithelial, cell cycle, and immune response for PCP, based on gene expression patterns.

If observed, these rare processes would provide a unique test bench for the quantum chromodynamics factorization formalism used to calculate cross sections at colliders. Additionally, at future colliders, these decays could offer a new way to measure the W boson mass through fully reconstructed decay products.

By recognizing two-dimensional CT images prior to a procedure, a physician determines the least invasive puncture route for the patient. Therefore, the candidate puncture route is limited to a two-dimensional region along the cross section of the human body.

Heat shock transcription factor 1 (HSF1) plays a central role in heat shock response in mammalian cells. To investigate the impact of the heat shock response mechanism on steroidogenesis, we generated MA-10 mouse Leydig tumor cells deficient in HSF1 using CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing.
