Objective: To investigate the effects of perilla extract on urinary symptoms in spontaneously hypertensive rats as a model of spontaneous overactive bladder.
Methods: Spontaneously hypertensive rats were randomly divided into two groups and fed either a control diet or a perilla extract-containing diet. Cystometry, gene expression and histological analyses were carried out to evaluate the effects of perilla extract after 2-week feeding of either the control or the perilla extract diet.
Background: Noninducibility of sustained monomorphic ventricular tachycardia (SMVT) postablation does not insure absence of later recurrence in patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy. This study aims to determine the relation between inducible nonsustained VT postablation and VT recurrences.
Methods And Results: One hundred sixty-five consecutive patients (156 male; age 68±9 years) underwent ablation for SMVT because of ischemic cardiomyopathy; 44 patients who did not have induction testing or in whom only ventricular fibrillation was induced after ablation were excluded.

Methods: Two hundred and thirty-five patients who underwent catheter ablation for paroxysmal AF (119 in irrigated-tip, 51 in contact-force sensing-guided, and 65 patients in second-generation cryoballoon ablation) were included.
Background: The effect of uninterrupted oral anticoagulant use in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) during catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation (AF) is not fully understood.
Objective: The present study aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of periprocedural uninterrupted direct oral anticoagulant (DOAC) use compared with those of uninterrupted warfarin use in patients undergoing catheter ablation for AF stratified by various renal function groups.
Methods: A total of 2091 patients were retrospectively included in this study.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: Right ventricular (RV)-scar related ventricular tachycardia (VT) is often due to arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy/dysplasia (ARVC/D) or cardiac sarcoidosis (CS), but some patients whose clinical course has not been described do not fulfill diagnostic criteria for these diseases. We sought to characterize the electrophysiologic substrate and catheter ablation outcomes of such patients, termed RV cardiomyopathy of unknown source (RCUS).
Methods And Results: Data of 100 consecutive patients who presented with RV cardiomyopathy and/or RV-related VT for ablation were reviewed (51 ARVC/D, 22 CS; 27 RCUS).
We designed and synthesized a novel artificial 2'-O,4'-C-methylene bridged nucleic acid (2',4'-BNA/LNA) with a phenoxazine nucleobase and named this compound BNAP. Oligodeoxynucleotide (ODN) containing BNAP showed higher binding affinities toward complementary DNA and RNA as compared to ODNs bearing 2',4'-BNA/LNA with 5-methylcytosine or 2'-deoxyribonucleoside with phenoxazine. Thermodynamic analysis revealed that BNAP exhibits properties associated with the phenoxazine moiety in DNA/DNA duplexes and characteristics associated with the 2',4'-BNA/LNA moiety in DNA/RNA duplexes.

The present study aimed to evaluate the relationship between VR during cryoballoon catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation and ANS modulation by evaluating epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) locations and heart rate variability (HRV) analysis.

Phellodendri Cortex (Obaku in Japanese) and Coptidis Rhizoma (Oren), both of which contain berberine, have been used to prepare the kampo formula orengedokuto to treat inflammatory diseases, including dermatitis, gastric ulcers, and gastritis. These drugs are blended differently in other formulas, such as the use of Phellodendri Cortex in shichimotsukokato to treat hypertension and Coptidis Rhizoma in hangeshashinto to treat diarrhea and stomatitis. However, the differences in their medicinal properties are not well characterized.

Materials And Methods: In this multicenter study, IV injections of etelcalcetide (3 times a week for 12 weeks) were administered, with dose escalation every 4 weeks depending on changes in serum intact parathyroid hormone (iPTH) and corrected calcium (cCa). A total of 24 patients participated in this study.
Hydrogen-bonded network structures and preferential ion core in the protonated methanol-water mixed clusters, H(methanol)-(water) (n = 6-10), were explored by a combination of infrared spectroscopy and theoretical calculations. Infrared spectra of the OH stretch region of the clusters were measured at the two different temperature ranges by using Ar-tagging. Stable isomer structures of the clusters were searched by the multiscale modeling approach and temperature dependent infrared spectra were simulated based on the statistical populations of the isomers.
