This study aimed to evaluate the effects of different dietary supplementation levels with jujube fruit powder on the performance, biochemical parameters, and egg quality characteristics of laying quails. A total of 60 quails (45 days old) were randomly assigned to treatments with different levels of jujube fruit powder: a basal diet (control) and diets supplemented with 5 g/kg (T1), 10 g/kg (T2), with five replicates per treatment (20 quails/treatment and four quails/replicate). The differences between 1-15 and 16-30 days for feed intake (p<0.

Background: Alveolar osteitis is a type of small-scale osteomyelitis of the alveolar bone that occurs after tooth extraction, the etiology of which remains unknown, and alternative methods are being investigated for its treatment. The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of advanced platelet-rich fibrin (A-PRF), photobiomodulation (PBM), and Alveogyl (butamben, idoform, eugenol), which have shown success in the treatment of alveolar osteitis, with that of pentoxifylline (PTX) to determine whether PTX could be an alternative treatment for alveolar osteitis.

Methods: This study included 80 healthy volunteers diagnosed with alveolar osteitis in the extraction sockets of their mandibular first, second, and third molars.

Article Synopsis
  • This study investigates the effectiveness of prolotherapy using gelofusine on wound healing in patients with pressure injuries, conducted as a randomized controlled trial.
  • The trial included 20 patients in an intensive care unit, divided into an experimental group receiving gelofusine treatment and a control group receiving saline, with measurements taken over three days.
  • Results showed significant improvements in wound dimensions (width and depth) in the experimental group versus deterioration in the control group, suggesting gelofusine may enhance healing of pressure injuries.

  • Energy production is essential for human activities but is a major contributor to global warming, making sustainable energy vital for meeting UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDG7.
  • Machine learning (ML) has the potential to significantly enhance sustainable energy practices through applications in energy production, storage, and forecasting, while also addressing planning activities to support SDG achievement.
  • Despite challenges like high energy consumption and the risk of increasing inequalities, ML can still make important contributions by improving data monitoring, planning global efforts, and advancing more sustainable energy technologies.

Combined administration of two or more drugs is emerging as a new strategy in triple negative breast neoplasms. This is the first study to investigate the combination of the histone deacetylase inhibitor (HDACi) mocetinostat and the antimetabolite drug capecitabine in triple-negative mammary neoplasms in a preclinical mouse model. 35 female mice were grouped into the control group, capecitabine group, mocetinostat group, and combine drugs group.

This study aims to develop a stable and efficient magnetic nanocomposite hydrogel (MNCH) for selective removal of methylene blue (MB) and crystal violet (CV). MNCHs with different FeO contents (0-9 wt%) were synthesized following graft co-polymerization method using sodium alginate, acrylamide, itaconic acid, ammonium persulfate and N,N-methylene bisacrylamide. Among them, MNCH, with 5 wt% FeO, showed highest removal efficiency (>95 %).

Background: The study aimed to compare the analgesic efficacy of single-shot serratus anterior plane block (SAPB) for video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) with other regional block techniques.

Methods: In this meta-analysis, randomized controlled trials published in the PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, ClinicalKey, and PROSPERO electronic databases between March 24, 2014 and March 24, 2024 comparing the analgesic efficacy of SABP with other regional blocks in adult patients undergoing VATS were reviewed.

Results: Nine randomized controlled trials consisting of a total of 537 participants (287 males, 250 females; mean age: 55.

Objective: Ideal volume of 5% dextrose (D5W) for median nerve hydrodissection (HD) for treating carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is still unknown. This study assessed the efficacy of nerve hydrodissection using varying volumes of D5W for treating mild to moderate CTS.

Design: Eighty participants with unilateral mild to moderate CTS were randomized into groups to receive either 5 ml of normal saline (NS), 5 ml of D5W, 10 ml of NS, and 10 ml of D5W, with each group undergoing one session of ultrasound-guided HD.

Regime switching, the process where complex systems undergo transitions between qualitatively different dynamical states due to changes in their conditions, is a widespread phenomenon, from climate and ocean circulation, to ecosystems, power grids, and the brain. Capturing the mechanisms that give rise to isolated or sequential switching dynamics, as well as developing generic and robust methods for forecasting, detecting, and controlling them is essential for maintaining optimal performance and preventing dysfunctions or even collapses in complex systems. This Focus Issue provides new insights into regime switching, covering the recent advances in theoretical analysis harnessing the reduction approaches, as well as data-driven detection methods and non-feedback control strategies.

Article Synopsis
  • - Sepsis is a serious condition characterized by inflammation and cell death, often leading to multiple organ failure, requiring quick medical attention; lipopolysaccharide (LPS) triggers inflammatory responses through specific receptors like TLR-2.
  • - The study explores the role of melatonin (MEL) in reducing lung injury caused by LPS-induced septic shock in rats, highlighting its potential to lower the expressions of inflammatory markers NEK7, TLR2, and NLRP3.
  • - Results showed that melatonin treatment reduced lung tissue damage, cell infiltration, and wall thickening, indicating that it may provide therapeutic benefits in managing sepsis-related acute lung injury.

Article Synopsis
  • Direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) are crucial for preventing strokes in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF), but their impact on blood parameters, especially in stable patients, has not been extensively studied.
  • In a retrospective study of 742 AF patients, researchers focused on changes in hemoglobin (Hb) levels after one year on DOACs, ultimately analyzing 530 patients based on whether their Hb change was less than or greater than 2 g/dL.
  • The findings revealed that patients with a greater than or equal to 2 g/dL decrease in Hb had higher baseline Hb levels and highlighted the need for careful monitoring of anemia in AF patients receiving DOACs, even if they seem clinically stable.

Background: The incidence of Hepatitis A is increasing worldwide. Yearly classification of Hepatitis A Seroprevalence for different times in different regions of Türkiye allows indirect measurement of year-specific incidence rates of HAV infection and can be considered the best way to define Hepatitis A status. This study aimed to examine the change in the incidence of hepatitis A by systematically evaluating the available data on the seroprevalence of anti-HAV antibodies in the Turkish population.

Introduction: Carotenoids are naturally occurring pigments in plants and are responsible for the orange, yellow, and red color of fruits and vegetables. Carrots are one of the primary dietary sources of carotenoids. The biological activities of carotenoids in higher organisms, including their immunomodulatory activities, are well documented in most tissues but not the large intestine.

Objective: Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) improve cardiovascular outcomes in patients with type 2 diabetes, but few studies have studied the risk of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA). We investigated whether GLP-1 RA use reduce OHCA risk in type 2 diabetes when compared to dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitor (DPP-4i) use.

Methods: We identified all patients having a redeemed prescription of a glucose-lowering drug between 1995 and 2019 and excluded patients with a first-time redeemed prescription consisting of insulin.
