Background Context: Isolated tuberculosis (TB) of posterior elements of the cervical spine is extremely rare. Only few cases are reported in literature, but none describe isolated spinous process and laminae involvement without TB in any other part of the body.

Methods: Based on the orthopedic inpatients in Lushan and Wenchuan earthquakes, the data of the age, gender, injury causes, body injured parts and speed of transport were classified and compared.
Results: The duration of patients admitted to hospital lasted long and the peak appeared late in Wenchuan earthquake, which is totally opposed to Lushan earthquake.

Objective: To evaluate the application of artificial lamina of multi-amino-acid copolymer (MAACP)/nano-hydroxyapatite (n-HA) in prevention of epidural adhesion and compression of scar tissue after posterior cervical laminectomy.
Methods: Fifteen 2-year-old male goats [weighing, (30 +/- 2) kg] were randomly divided into experimental group (n=9) and control group (n=6). In the experimental group, C4 laminectomy was performed, followed by MAACP/n-HA artificial lamina implantations; in the control group, only C4 laminectomy was performed.
Background Context: Posterior laminectomy is an effective spinal surgical procedure. The adhesion of postoperative scar tissue to surgically exposed dura and, occasionally, to nerve roots can cause failed back surgery syndrome. The establishment of a barrier between scar tissue and dura that is made of hard material may prevent scar adhesions.

Methods: We retrospectively investigated 944 patients sustaining limb fractures, including 891 in Wenchuan earthquake and 53 in Yushu earthquake, who were admitted to West China Hospital (WCH) of Sichuan University.
Results: In Wenchuan earthquake, WCH met its three peaks of limb fracture patients influx, on post-earthquake day (PED) 2, 8 and 14 respectively.
Objective: To analyze the results of clinical and bacteriological examinations in patients with crush syndrome who suffered infectious complications after an earthquake in Sichuan, China.
Methods: A total of 313 bacteriological samples among 147 patients with crush syndrome were collected. Infectious complications, results of microbiological examinations, potential risk factors of infection and mortality were analyzed statistically.

Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of acetabulum reinforcement ring (Cage) with allograft bone for reconstructing acetabular defects in hip revision.
Methods: Between February 2006 and August 2010, 14 patients (14 hips) with serious acetabular bone defects after total hip arthroplasty underwent acetabular reconstruction by using Cage with allograft bone. There were 6 males and 8 females with a mean age of 59.

Objective: To evaluate the clinical effectiveness and safety of using granular type nano-hydroxyapatite and polyamide 66 (n-HA/PA66) composite in repairing bone defects caused by giant cell tumors.
Methods: 48 patients with giant cell tumors, who underwent lesion curettage, inactivation and cavities fill-in with granular type n-HA/PA66 from December 2007 to May 2011, were followed up. Routine blood tests, liver and kidney functions, serum calcium and phosphorus, and immunologic parameters were examined before and after the surgeries.
