- In a large sample of 31,486 AF inpatients, researchers found that only 1.6% had hypothyroidism and 2.0% had hyperthyroidism; during hospitalization, 16.3% experienced major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE), with higher incidence rates in hyperthyroid patients.
- The results showed that hypothyroidism lowered MACE risk, while hyperthyroidism increased it significantly; therefore, managing hyperthyroidism is crucial for improving AF patient outcomes.
