The functional stay-green trait is a major goal of rice breeding. Here, we cloned OsSCE1a encoding SUMO-conjugating enzyme from Yuanjiang common wild rice, which simultaneously regulates the functional stay-green trait and growth duration. Low expression or knocking out OsSCE1a corresponded to increased chlorophyll content, photosynthetic competence, N use efficiency and a shortened growth period without affecting yield.

Abundant residual heat from industrial emissions may provide energy resource for CO conversion, which relies on H gas and cannot be accomplished at low temperatures. Here, we report an approach to store electrons and hydrogen atoms in catalysts using sunlight and water, which can be released for CO reduction in dark at relatively low temperatures (150-300 °C), enabling on-demand CO conversion. As a proof of concept, a model catalyst is developed by loading single Cu sites on hexagonal tungsten trioxide (Cu/WO).

We propose a timing jitter measurement scheme based on the temporal sampling method. This scheme offers a wide dynamic range and high measurement accuracy for measuring timing jitter between pulses, allowing for attosecond precision in measuring timing jitter of ultrashort pulses with short and long pulse duration. By utilizing a balanced measuring configuration, this scheme is naturally immune to the environmental and laser amplitude noises, and has been successfully used to measure timing jitter of two femtosecond pulses.

This work presents a design approach for optically transparent low-loss frequency selective surfaces (FSSs) based on the simultaneous optimization of a conductive layer, dielectric layer, and fabrication process. Three bandpass FSSs working in millimeter-wave bands with low insertion losses are investigated and fabricated based on low-loss Rogers RT5870 and cyclic olefin copolymer (COC) substrates. The measured results of the RT5870 based FSS (case 1) and COC based FSS (case 2) indicate that the COC substrate possesses lower dielectric loss tangent at the K band.
