The regulation of the f-f transition is the basis of utilizing the abundant optical properties of lanthanide (Ln), of which the key is to modulate the local environment of Ln ions. Here, we constructed Eu(III)-based unit-cell-sized ultrathin nanowires (UCNWs) with red luminescence and polymer-like behavior, which appears as an ideal carrier for regulating f-f transition. The f-f transition of Eu(III) in UCNWs could be precisely regulated through various ligands.

Rab GTPases are a class of small GTP-binding proteins, play crucial roles in the membrane transport machinery with in eukaryotic cells. They dynamically regulate the precise targeting and tethering of transport vesicles to specific compartments by transitioning between active and inactive states. In plants, Rab GTPases are classified into eight distinct subfamilies: Rab1/D, Rab2/B, Rab5/F, Rab6/H, Rab7/G, Rab8/E, Rab11/A, and Rab18/C.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates how lymphovascular invasion (LVI) affects overall survival in gastric cancer patients at pN0 stage after they've undergone surgery to remove the tumor.
  • - Out of 497 patients reviewed, 19.9% had LVI, which was linked to significantly poorer survival rates; further analysis identified LVI and the number of examined lymph nodes as independent predictors of survival.
  • - The findings suggest that for better outcomes, it is crucial to dissect more than 15 lymph nodes during surgery for patients with pN0 stage gastric cancer, especially those with LVI.

FOLFIRI (5-FU, leucovorin, irinotecan) is the first-line chemotherapy for metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC), but response rates are under 50%. This study aimed to develop a predictive signature for FOLFIRI response in mCRC patients. Firstly, Spearman's rank correlation and Wilcoxon rank-sum test were used to select chemotherapy response genes and gene pairs, respectively.

Purpose: The training of deep learning (DL) models in medical images requires large amounts of sensitive patient data. However, acquiring adequately labeled datasets is challenging because of the heavy workload of manual annotations and the stringent privacy protocols.

Methods: Federated learning (FL) provides an alternative approach in which a coalition of clients collaboratively trains models without exchanging the underlying datasets.

Nanozyme catalytic therapeutic efficacy is limited by the finite enzyme activity and specificity. In this work, nitrogen-doped carbon loaded with a cerium single-atom nanozyme (Ce SAs@NC) is synthesized, exhibiting tumor specificity and excellent multiple enzyme-like activities. Compared with nitrogen-doped carbon loaded with CeO nanoparticles, Ce SAs@NC shows excellent peroxidase-like and catalase-like activity.

The efficacy of optimized glycoproteinenzymes as a novel therapeutic approach for oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) was tested in this study. The stability and viability of SCC-25 and HN4 operating-system cell lines were characterized. Both lines were confirmed to have a spindle-like morphology for SCC-25, while HN4 cells exhibited cobblestone-like clusters.

This paper summarizes several attractive surface acoustic wave (SAW) biosensors, including Love-wave sensors, dual-channel SAW sensors, langasite SAW sensors, and SAW syringe filters. SAW sensors with different piezoelectric materials and high-frequency SAW sensors used for identifying the food pathogenic bacteria () are discussed together with the examples of methods based on such sensing technology that have been effectively utilized in diagnostics and epidemiological research. This review also emphasizes some of the limitations of using these biosensors, which have prompted the increased need for more rapid, sensitive, selective, portable, power-efficient, and low-cost methods for detecting these pathogens.

BACKGROUNDConsidering that trophoblast cell-surface antigen 2 (Trop2) is overexpressed in a wide range of human epithelial cancers, it presents an attractive target for diagnosis and treatment of multiple types of cancer. Herein, we have developed a Trop2-specific radiotracer, 68Ga-MY6349, and present a prospective, investigator-initiated trial to explore the clinical value of 68Ga-MY6349 PET/CT.METHODSIn this translational study, 90 patients with 15 types of cancer who underwent 68Ga-MY6349 PET/CT were enrolled prospectively.

Low temperatures are a key factor affecting the growth, development, and geographical distribution of prickly ash. This study investigated the impact of ecological and geographical factors on the freezing tolerance of prickly ash germplasm. Thirty-seven germplasm samples from 18 different origins were collected, and their freezing tolerance was comprehensively evaluated.

Background: Lychee seeds were fermented by three kinds of bacteria (Lactobacillus plantarum, Saccharomyces cerevillus and ganoderma lucidum mycelium), and two effective strains were selected by two indexes of activity content and antioxidant, so as to further verify whether lychee seeds have waste multiplication effect and can protect cells damaged by oxidation from anti-inflammatory, anti-aging and safety.

Results: The contents of polyphenols, flavonoids and proteins in the solution fermented by Ganoderma lucidum mycelium did not increase, thus affecting the antioxidant capacity of the solution was far less than that of the water extract. The active content of the other two fermentation solutions was higher than that of the water extract, and the ability of scavenging free radicals of the two solutions increased with the increase of the volume fraction.

Purpose: This study aims to investigate the influence of the Global Leadership Initiative on Malnutrition (GLIM) on diagnosing malnutrition in acute pancreatitis (AP) based on various inflammatory criteria.

Patients And Methods: A total of 258 AP patients admitted to a large medical center between June 2019 and January 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. All patients underwent evaluation using the original GLIM and GLIM criteria based on C-reactive protein (CRP), albumin, neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio, and CRP/albumin ratio (CAR).

Electrolyte additives are investigated to resolve dendrite growth, hydrogen evolution reaction, and corrosion of Zn metal. In particular, the electrostatic shielding cationic strategy is considered an effective method to regulate deposition morphology. However, it is very difficult for such a simple cationic modification to avoid competitive hydrogen evolution reactions, corrosion, and interfacial pH fluctuations.

  • Septic shock (SS) is a serious condition with high mortality, and understanding different patient profiles can improve treatment strategies.
  • Using a method called latent profile analysis (LPA), researchers identified three distinct phenotypes of SS based on factors like age, organ dysfunction, and comorbidities.
  • Phenotype I had the highest mortality and severe liver dysfunction, while Phenotype III had lower mortality with fewer health issues, highlighting the importance of personalized care in SS management.

  • A study was conducted to explore the relationship between Systemic Immune-Infiltration (SII) levels and cataracts in US adults, highlighting a gap in existing research.
  • Using data from the NHANES 1999-2008 cycles, the study analyzed 11,205 adults and found that 15.2% had cataracts, with increased SII levels (over 500 × 10/L) linked to higher cataract risk in women specifically.
  • The findings suggest that managing inflammation could help slow cataract development, emphasizing the need for more research on the impact of SII on eye health, particularly in female patients.
