Long-read metagenome assemblers can generate contiguous bacterial chromosomes but often suppress strain-level variation in favor of species-level consensus.

[Efficacy of fesoterodine for prevention of autonomic dysreflexia in patients with neurogenic dysfunction of the bladder after spinal cord injury].

Aim: to evaluate the effectiveness of fesoterodine for the prevention of autonomic dysreflexia (AD) in patients with neurogenic bladder dysfunction (NBD) after spinal cord injury (SCI).

Materials And Methods: a total of 53 patients with AD were included in the study. In the main group (n=33) patients received fesoterodine 4 mg per day for 12 weeks as a treatment for neurogenic bladder dysfunction and prevention of AD.

Assessment of Seasonal Variability in Phosphorus Biodynamics by Cosmogenic Isotopes P, P around Balaklava Coast.

The sorption efficiency of phosphorus from seawater by aluminum oxide and sorbents based on Fe(OH) obtained by various methods (using prepared sodium ferrate or precipitation of Fe(OH) with ammonia) was assessed. It was shown that phosphorus was recovered most efficiently at a seawater flow rate of one-to-four column volumes per minute with a sorbent based on hydrolyzed polyacrylonitrile fiber with a precipitation of Fe(OH) with ammonia. Based on the results obtained, a method for phosphorus isotopes recovery with this sorbent was suggested.

The study aimed to demonstrate vaccine safety in mice, rats, and Chinchilla rabbits through acute, subchronic, and reproductive toxicity studies.

Management Strategies for Hyperglycemia Associated with the α-Selective PI3K Inhibitor Alpelisib for the Treatment of Breast Cancer.

Alpelisib is an α-selective phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase inhibitor used for treating hormone receptor-positive (HR+), human epidermal growth receptor 2-negative (HER2-), -mutated locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer following disease progression on or after endocrine therapy. Hyperglycemia is an on-target effect of alpelisib affecting approximately 60% of treated patients, and sometimes necessitating dose reductions, treatment interruptions, or discontinuation of alpelisib. Early detection of hyperglycemia and timely intervention have a key role in achieving optimal glycemic control and maintaining alpelisib dose intensity to optimize the benefit of this drug.

The COVID-19 pandemic is ongoing, and the need for safe and effective vaccines to prevent infection and to control spread of the virus remains urgent. Here, we report the development of a SARS-CoV-2 subunit vaccine candidate (Betuvax-CoV-2) based on RBD and SD1 domains of the spike (S) protein fused to a human IgG1 Fc fragment. The antigen is adsorbed on betulin adjuvant, forming spherical particles with a size of 100-180 nm, mimicking the size of viral particles.

Alignment-free approaches employing short -mers as barcodes for individual genomes have created a new strategy for taxonomic analysis and paved a way for high-resolution phylogeny. Here, we introduce this strategy for the species as a taxon requiring barcoding support for precise systematics. Using this approach for phylotyping of VKM B-1144 at the genus level, we identified four phylogroups and found that 12A belongs to one of them, rather than to the clade.

During the 12th Breast-Gynaecological & Immuno-oncology International Cancer Conference (BGICC) Egypt, 2020, a panel of 35 breast cancer experts from 13 countries voted on consensus guidelines for the clinical management of TNBC. The consensus was subsequently updated based on the most recent data evolved lately.

The first BGICC consensus and recommendations for breast cancer awareness, early detection and risk reduction in low- and middle-income countries and the MENA region.

In low-middle income countries (LMICs) and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, there is an unmet need to establish and improve breast cancer (BC) awareness, early diagnosis and risk reduction programs. During the 12th Breast, Gynecological & Immuno-oncology International Cancer Conference - Egypt 2020, 26 experts from 7 countries worldwide voted to establish the first consensus for BC awareness, early detection and risk reduction in LMICs/MENA region. High-molecular weight chitosan (200 kDa, 75% deacetylated) and N-succinoyl chitosan (300 kDa, 75% deacetylated) were shown to have a preadaptive effect and increase the lifespan of honeybees due to the induction of protective antioxidant and immune mechanisms.
