This study aims to present a case of laparoscopic nephrolithotomy and highlight its successful outcome. The patient was a 65-year-old male who experienced intermittent colicky flank pain. Imaging revealed the presence of a 20-mm round-shaped stone in a hydronephrotic calyx located in the mid-pole of the left kidney, possibly with a parenchymal component.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 157 kidney transplant recipients (KTRs) who underwent KTX at Charité Berlin, Department for Urology, between February 2014 and December 2017. Patients were divided into two groups: patients with ASA in their preoperative medication (Group A, n = 59) and patients without ASA use (Group B, n = 98).
Background: Patients with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) represent >10% of patients awaiting kidney transplantation. These patients are prone to potentially severe urinary tract (UTI) and liver cyst infections after transplantation. Whether such infections compromise outcome is unclear.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed data for 1815 adult patients who underwent HoLEP at Evangelisches Krankenhaus Königin Elisabeth Herzberge, Berlin, between January 2019 and May 2024. Patients were divided into two groups according to their prostate volume: ≤149 ml (group A) and ≥150 ml (group B).
Objective: To compare all available rapid tests on a large cohort of recurrent bladder cancer during follow-up in this multicentre-study is the first study. BTA stat, NMP22 BladderChek, UBC Rapid Test CancerCheck UBC rapid VISUAL, and uromonitor are urinary-based rapid tests for bladder cancer detection.
Methods: In total, 187 urine samples were analyzed from patients with suspected recurrent non-muscle invasive urothelial bladder cancer on cystoscopy during follow-up in a real-world assessment.
Objectives: To determine the safety and oncological advantages of en bloc resection of bladder tumour (ERBT) vs conventional transurethral resection of bladder tumour (cTURBT) in terms of resection quality, staging quality, and safety.
Patients And Methods: We conducted a single-blinded randomised controlled trial at seven European hospitals with the following inclusion criteria: first diagnosis of non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer, no singular carcinoma in situ, and tumour size >4.3 mm.
Background And Objective: Kidney transplant recipients (KTRs) have an increased risk of developing genitourinary cancers, including prostate cancer (PCa), which is expected to become more prevalent due to an aging KTR population. Thus, knowledge of surgical outcomes, including treatment of PCa, within this unique cohort is required.
Methods: Data of 62 KTRs undergoing radical prostatectomy (RP) between 2006 and 2023 at nine urologic transplant centers were analyzed.
The use of mammalian target of rapamycin inhibitors (mTORis) in kidney transplantation increases the risk of donor-specific human leukocyte antigen (HLA) antibody formation and rejection. Here, we investigated the long-term consequences of early mTORi treatment compared to calcineurin inhibitor (CNI) treatment. In this retrospective single-center analysis, key outcome parameters were compared between patients participating in randomized controlled immunosuppression trials between 1998 and 2011, with complete follow-up until 2018.

Besides the ureteral anastomosis to an ileal conduit, there are diverse complex reconstructive solutions. Due to its rarity, standardization and teaching of complex urinary diversion is extremely difficult.

ABO blood group-incompatible living-donor kidney transplants have also been established for at least 20 years. The equivalence of the results of ABO-incompatible and ABO-compatible transplants has recently been questioned.

The presence of multiple renal arteries (MRA) in grafts can be challenging. In the present study, we investigated the impact of ligation versus anastomosis of small accessory graft arteries on the perioperative outcome.

The reported risks for transplant nephrectomy (TN) vary, and there is no clear recommendation on indications or surgical approach that should be used. This study gives an overview of indications, compares surgical techniques, and identifies risk factors for higher morbidity.

Objectives: The current evidence and experience of RAKT was investigated from an international and German perspective.
Purpose: The Eurotransplant Senior program allocating grafts from donors ≥ 65 years to recipients aged ≥ 65 years has proven good results within the last 20 years. However, "old" grafts are also allocated to younger recipients < 65 years, and this outcome of "old for young" kidney transplantations (KT) still lacks detailed investigations.
Methods: All "old for young" KT performed at four tertiary referral centers were retrospectively compared including a recent follow-up, stratifying for "old for young" (donor ≥ 65 years to recipient < 65 years) vs.
Purpose: To determine oncological and functional outcomes and side effects after focal therapy of prostate cancer (PCa) with high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU).
Methods: This retrospective single-center study included 57 consecutive patients with localised PCa. Aged 18-80 with ≤2 suspicious lesions on mpMRI (PIRADS ≥ 3), PSA of ≤15 ng/mL, and an ISUP GG of ≤2.
Introduction And Objective: BTA stat®, NMP22® BladderChek®, UBC® Rapid Test, and CancerCheck® UBC® rapid VISUAL are urinary-based rapid tests. This multicenter study is the first study comparing all available rapid tests on a large cohort of bladder cancer patients and healthy controls in one setting.
Methods: In total 732 urine samples (second morning urine) in a real-world assessment have been analyzed.
Ureteral complications such as urinary leak, ureteral necrosis or ureteral stenosis are common complications after renal transplantation with major short- and long-term issues, including graft impairment and graft loss. At present, there is no agreement on the optimal management of ureteral complications. The aim of the current study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the self-expanding, large-caliber Allium ureteral stent in patients with ureteral complications following renal transplantation.

In addition, data on a holistic view looking at both death with a functioning graft (DWFG) and death-censored graft failure (DCGF) are sparse.
Methods: In this single-centre study we included 1477 adult kidney transplants performed between 1997 and 2017, of which all 286 DWFGs until the end of observation were analysed and causes for death assigned.
Background: Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP) was established 20 years ago as an alternative to Transurethral Resection of the Prostate (TUR-P) based on improved morbidity in patients with benign prostate syndrome (BPS). HoLEP can be applied independently to almost all sizes of prostate glands and is recommended in national and international guidelines. Although the HoLEP procedure has a good reputation, many patients still prefer conservative treatment due to fears of side-effects such as pain and urinary incontinence.

So far, data on vaccination outcomes in adolescents are scarce due to later vaccination approval for this age group. We therefore comprehensively analyzed vaccination-specific humoral-, T- and B-cell responses in kidney transplanted adolescents aged 12-18 years in comparison to healthy controls 6 weeks after standard two-dose BNT162b2 ("Comirnaty"; Pfizer/BioNTech) vaccination.
