Glucagon-like peptide-1 agonists (GLP-1 RAs) have produced substantial weight loss effects in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) cohorts, but these effects have not been thoroughly studied in patients with obesity and without diabetes. This review aimed to analyze direct comparative studies for semaglutide versus other GLP-1 RA (liraglutide and efinopegdutide) in facilitating weight loss and evaluating adverse events in patients with obesity. Introduction: Between 1994 and 2014, despite an increase in applicants, successful matches into general surgery (GS) decreased by 13%. We aim to (1) understand the trends in competitiveness for a GS residency, and ascertain the associations between (2) geographical distribution and (3) research experiences on matching.
Methods: National Resident Matching Program data (2013-2022) were analyzed for (1) annual positions and matches, (2) United States Medical Licensing Examination scores, and (3) research experiences.
Neck injury fractures are commonly associated with high-impact trauma, such as motor vehicle accidents or falls from heights. However, this case underscores that it is possible to sustain such a fracture even from minor falls. As of now, there are no such reported cases.

Methods: People aged between 18 and 60 were recruited as being DRA carriers.
We investigated the capability of internal normal modes to reproduce RNA flexibility and predict observed RNA conformational changes and, notably, those induced by the formation of RNA-protein and RNA-ligand complexes. Here, we extended our iNMA approach developed for proteins to study RNA molecules using a simplified representation of the RNA structure and its potential energy. Three data sets were also created to investigate different aspects.

It may predate the onset of polyneuropathy and cardiomyopathy, thereby providing crucial prognostic and therapeutic information. View Article and Find Full Text PDFObjective: The aim of this study was to estimate the Friedreich's ataxia (FRDA) prevalence in a highly populated region of Italy (previous studies in small geographic areas gave a largely variable prevalence) and to define the patients' molecular and clinical characteristics.
Methods: For the point-prevalence study, we considered patients belonging to families with a molecular diagnosis of FRDA and resident in Latium on 1 January 2019. The crude prevalence of FRDA, specific for age and sex, was calculated and standardized for age using the Italian population.
As more sequencing data accumulate and novel puzzling genetic regulations are discovered, the need for accurate automated modeling of RNA structure increases. RNA structure modeling from chemical probing experiments has made tremendous progress, however accurately predicting large RNA structures is still challenging for several reasons: RNA are inherently flexible and often adopt many energetically similar structures, which are not reliably distinguished by the available, incomplete thermodynamic model. Moreover, computationally, the problem is aggravated by the relevance of pseudoknots and non-canonical base pairs, which are hardly predicted efficiently.

Methods: Patients with genetic diagnosis of DM1 and healthy controls underwent a 7-day actigraphic recording and filled out a daily sleep diary to evaluate the sleep-wake rhythm. All participants underwent a physical and neurological examination to exclude conditions interfering with the sleep-wake cycle.
