Background: The gradual extrusion of water-soluble intracellular components (such as proteins) from microalgae after pulsed electric field (PEF) treatment is a well-documented phenomenon. This could be utilized in biorefinery applications with lipid extraction taking place after such an 'incubation' period, i.e.

As an antioxidant iron chelator, its mechanisms are multimodal, involving the binding of brain iron and the consequent engagement of several pathways to counter pathogenesis across multiple diseases. We and other research groups have shown that IN DFO rescues cognitive impairment in several rodent models of Alzheimer Disease (AD).

The aim of this study was to establish reference values for the maximal anatomical cross-sectional area (ACSA) of the individual hamstrings (HAM) and quadriceps (QUAD) muscles as well as for the maximal voluntary torque (MVT) during knee flexion (KF) and knee extension (KE) of female and male elite competitive alpine skiers. Ultrasound and dynamometer data were obtained from a largely overlapping but not identical dataset.

Few methods exist to describe the structures of single-site Pt catalysts with atomic resolution because of their disordered structures and low Pt loadings. Here, we study the compounds formed when bis(tri--butylphosphino)platinum, Pt(P Bu), is supported on dehydroxylated SiO or SiO-AlO.

Twenty-six competitive alpine skiers were followed from 2015 to 2019 for their WR positions (FIS-ranking). Using PCR, the genotypes of ACE-I/D, TNC, ACTN3, and PTK2 were identified.

We report that the type of interaction between Chlorella vulgaris and bacteria of the genus Delftia is not solely determined by species specificity. Rather, it is a dynamic process of adaptation to the surrounding conditions, where one or the other microorganism dominates (temporally) depending on the growth conditions, in particular the medium.

The choice of ligand plus boron source allows the synthesis of three isomeric borylative cyclization products starting from a common substrate and using the same precatalyst ((PhP)Fe(CO)(NO)H) and sets the stage for the development of a unifying concept in Fe-catalyzed borylative cyclizations.

Since PTs are subject to maturation up to 1-2 years after growth spurt, this early career stage may be decisive for the further course of complaints. The aim of this study was to investigate the evolution of PT complaints and shear wave velocity patterns among competitive alpine skiers during a 4-year post-growth spurt follow-up.

Axially chiral biaryls were obtained via the enantioselective ring opening of cyclic diaryliodonium salts. Regioselective borylation was key in accessing both enantiomers of a biphenol key intermediate in eight steps overall.

We hypothesized that patients who underwent open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) for simple ankle fractures would have similar function compared to a healthy control group, whereas patients with complex fractures will have significant functional deficits. Furthermore, we postulate that there is a discrepancy between the radiological and the functional outcomes.

They possess interesting magnetic properties as well as redox activity. In this work, we present the synthesis and investigation of potent synthons for constructing discrete metal-organic architectures featuring 1,2-diamidobenzene-coordinated metal centres.

Chaperones can assist in the crystallization of compounds that do not crystallize by themselves by producing solvate crystals that contain the analyte in their three-dimensional lattices. Among the most versatile chaperones for liquid analytes are tetraaryladamantanes (TAAs), but the size of the compounds that can be encapsulated is limited, and attempts to surpass this limit with known TAAs were unsuccessful.

With -cyclooctene (COE) cyclic, low molecular weight oligomers were obtained at low monomer concentrations and the cyclic nature of the polymer was confirmed by MALDI-TOF measurements. High-molecular weight cyclic poly(COE) became available at high monomer concentrations.

In this work, we report the scalable and modular synthesis of a library of 55 monomeric and dimeric flavonoids including 14 8,8'-biflavones. The sterically demanding tetra--substituted axis of an acetophenone dimer key intermediate was constructed in a regioselective manner using Fe-mediated oxidative coupling. This step was systematically optimized and performed on up to multigram scale.

We hypothesized that periodization-induced alterations in muscle and metabolic performance demonstrate important variability, which in part is explained by gene-associated factors in association with sex and age.
