We address the development of efficient neural network (NN)-based post-equalizers in long-haul coherent-detection dense wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM) optical transmission systems. To achieve a high level of generalization of the NN-based equalizers, we propose to employ multi-task learning (MTL). MTL refers to a single shared machine learning (NN) model that can perform multiple different (albeit related) tasks.

We present a case of a 54-year-old healthy male patient who experienced refractory hypertension during the immediate postoperative period following nasal surgery. Additional gastrointestinal symptoms and imaging findings made it possible to consider a catecholamine-producing tumour as the primary cause.

The study conducted on l-Phenylalanyl-l-Alanine (CHNO) dehydrated crystals under high-pressure conditions up to 7.0 GPa using Raman spectroscopy revealed significant modifications in both lattice and internal modes. Particularly, alterations were observed in modes associated with carbonyl and NH functionalities around 1600 cm.

The purpose of this article is to present a new technique to restore eroded teeth and recover the vertical dimension with a simple and predictable technique.
Clinical Considerations: Occlusal tabletop restorations are a suitable conservative option to restore anatomy and vertical dimension augmentation but highly sensitive.
Milk is subjected to different industrial processes, provoking significant physicochemical modifications that impact milk's functional properties. As a rapid and in-line method, front-face fluorescence can be used to characterize milk instead of conventional analytical tests. However, when applying fluorescence spectroscopy for any application, it is not always necessary to determine which compound is responsible for each fluorescent response.

Considering the recent emerging of new dengue vaccines, here we performed an integrative systems vaccinology characterization of molecular signatures triggered by the natural DENV infection (NDI) and attenuated dengue virus infection models (DVTs).
Methods And Results: We analyzed 955 samples of transcriptomic datasets of patients with NDI and attenuated dengue virus infection trials (DVT1, DVT2, and DVT3) using a systems vaccinology approach.

An emerging property of muscle miRNAs is the cooperative regulation of transcriptional and epitranscriptional events controlling muscle phenotype. miR-155 has been related to muscular dystrophy and muscle cell atrophy.

The nature of these mass gap objects is unknown, as is the formation of their host binary systems. We report pulsar timing observations made with the Karoo Array Telescope (MeerKAT) of PSR J0514-4002E, an eccentric binary millisecond pulsar in the globular cluster NGC 1851.

Here, we evaluated the administration of an HD of ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 in the primary immunization protocol (up to two doses) in reducing moderate and severe cases, hospitalizations, and deaths when compared to the administration of full doses (FD) after a long-term follow-up.
Methods: We evaluated data from 29,469 participants between January 2021 and November 2022 who received an HD or FD vaccine and crossed this information with their medical records to identify those who developed moderate or severe cases.
Dengue virus (DENV) infection manifests as a febrile illness with three distinct phases: early acute, late acute, and convalescent. Dengue can result in clinical manifestations with different degrees of severity, dengue fever, dengue hemorrhagic fever, and dengue shock syndrome. Interferons (IFNs) are antiviral cytokines central to the anti-DENV immune response.

Melatonin, with its numerous antitumor properties, holds great promise in cancer treatment. Herein, we investigated the effects of melatonin on apoptosis, cell migration, and kinase levels in human ovarian carcinoma SKOV-3 cells and determined whether these effects are mediated by the activation of the MT1 receptor.

Epigenetic regulators, such as microRNAs, may be involved in the physiopathology of LVSd.
Objective: This study explored microRNAs in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) of post-myocardial infarction patients with LVSd.

Crystals of dipeptide α-L-aspartyl-L-alanine (α-Asp-Ala), CHNO, were studied under high-temperature conditions through vibrational spectroscopy (IR and Raman) and thermal analysis (Differential Scanning Calorimetry - DSC). From the analysis of the results, it is possible to conclude that: (i) the studied material undergoes a reversible order-disorder phase transition at 373 K on heating, where several changes were observed in the vibrational spectra, especially with vibrational modes of the units that participate directly of the hydrogen bonds; (ii) the phase transition undergone by the α-Asp-Ala crystal (about 373 K) involves changes in hydrogen bonds, possibly the rupture of at least one of them, and change in the conformation of the molecules in the unit cell.

This work reports a pressure-dependent Raman spectroscopic study and the theoretical lattice dynamics calculations of a Bi(MoO) crystal. The lattice dynamics calculations were performed, based on a rigid ion model, to understand the vibrational properties of the Bi(MoO) system and to assign the experimental Raman modes under ambient conditions. The calculated vibrational properties were helpful to support pressure-dependent Raman results, including eventual structural changes induced by pressure changes.
