In our recently published study in Science of the Total Environment, we used a systematic literature search to investigate the current state of research of persistent, bioaccumulative, and toxic chemicals (PBTs) and insects. We found a distinct increase of human, animal, and vertebrate publications related to PBTs in the early 1990s but did not identify a conclusive cause for this. In her Letter to the Editor, Huang (2022) offered an explanation for our result, and we have used her initiative to repeat our analysis with refined methodology.

Objective: The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists recommends screening for a range of antibodies in first-episode psychosis, including anti-glutamic acid decarboxylase antibodies. Glutamic acid decarboxylase antibody-associated encephalitis occurs with high antibody titres and may cause cognitive dysfunction, seizures and psychiatric symptoms. However, glutamic acid decarboxylase antibodies are more frequently found in lower titre in association with other autoimmune disorders (such as diabetes mellitus type 1) and in healthy individuals.

Background: Wilms tumor is the most common childhood kidney cancer. Two distinct histological subtypes of Wilms tumor have been described: tumors lacking anaplasia (the favorable subtype) and tumors displaying anaplastic features (the unfavorable subtype). Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is the most prevalent histological type of human cancer, including head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). However, reliable prognostic gene signatures for SCC and underlying genetic and/or epigenetic principles are still unclear. We identified 37 prognostic candidate genes by best cutoff computation based on survival in a pan-SCC cohort ( = 1334) of The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), whose expression stratified not only the pan-SCC cohort but also independent HNSCC validation cohorts into three distinct prognostic subgroups.

Early mobilization has become an important aspect of treatment in intensive care medicine, especially in patients with acute pulmonary dysfunction. As its effects on regional lung physiology have not been fully explored, we conceived a prospective observational study (Registration number: DRKS00023076) investigating regional lung function during a 15-min session of early mobilization physiotherapy with a 30-min follow-up period.
