The incidence of extubation failure varies between 2 and 25% depending on the studied population. Few studies have been conducted in burn victims. To determine the incidence, causes, risk factors and outcome of burned patients after a failed extubation, a retrospective single-center case-control study was conducted over a period of 3 years (January 2018-December 2021).

The goal of this study was to assess plasma procalcitonin (PCT) concentrations during infectious events of burns in the ICU. We conducted a prospective, observational study in a 20-bed Burn Intensive Care Unit in Tunisia. A total of 120 septic patients admitted to the Burn ICU were included in our study.

Article Synopsis
  • * Symptoms typically appeared around 5.4 days after starting TGC treatment, with common signs including abdominal pain, nausea, and elevated pancreatic enzymes.
  • * Monitoring is crucial for patients on TGC to prevent severe complications, particularly in those with other risk factors, as most cases resolved within about 4 days after discontinuing the drug.

Hypernatremia is associated with poor outcomes in critically ill patients. Hypernatremia risk factors in burned patients are not well studied. We aimed to identify hypernatremia risk factors and to evaluate outcomes in burned patients admitted to our burns intensive care unit.

Corona virus disease (COVID-19) is an extremely serious infection with an extremely high death rate worldwide. In March, the disease was declared a "global pandemic" by the World Health Organization (WHO). Until now, there is no known vaccine or drug, since the unknown things related to the disease are more important than our theoretical and empirical knowledge.

Background: The rheumatoid polyarthritis (PR) is a frequent pathology in Tunisia. The most frequent extra articular expression of this disease is in the respiratory tract.

Aim: To determine the lung functional profile of PR of the Tunisian population by establishing possible relations between ventilatory variables and clinico-biological parameters of PR.

In recent years, conducting polymers combined with metallic nanoparticles have been paid more attention due to their potential applications in microelectronics, microsystems, optical sensors and photoelectronic chemistry. The work presented in this paper describes the preparation and characterization of a nanocomposite composed by a thin polypyrrole (PPy) film covered with an assembly of magnetic nanoparticles (NPs). The magnetic particles were immobilized on PPy films under appropriate magnetic field in order to control their organization on the PPy film and finally to improve the sensitivity of the system in potential sensing applications.

We assessed the diagnostic value of anti-mutated citrullinated vimentin antibodies (anti-MCV) and compared it with those of anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide antibodies (anti-CCP), IgA (ARF), IgM (MRF) and IgG (GRF) rheumatoid factors for rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Serum samples of 170 RA patients, with early and established RA, and 309 controls were tested for anti-MCV, anti-CCP, ARF, MRF and GRF using commercially available ELISA kits. Cut off of different tests was determined with ROC curves.
