Background: Few studies have compared conventional and self-assisted shoulder reduction maneuvers. The goal of this study was to evaluate the results of self-assisted Davos vs. traction/countertraction (T/Ct) techniques in the treatment of acute anterior shoulder dislocations.

The Dark Side of Motivational Practices in Exercise Professionals: Mediators of Controlling Strategies.

According to the Self-Determination Theory, perceived job pressures can coerce professionals to develop more controlled motivations towards their work, and consequently increase the probability of using controlling motivational strategies. This study sought to analyze work-related motivations as mediators between two types of perceived job pressures: organizational constraints and perceptions of clients' controlled motivation and the use of controlling motivational strategies by exercise professionals. Using a cross-sectional design, involving 366 exercise professionals (172 women), mediation paths were assessed following Preacher and Hayes statistical procedures.

Pediatric Pyomyositis: A Rare but Important Complication of Varicella.

Varicella is a common viral infection in children and most of them recover without sequelae, but serious complications can follow this infection and 6% have been reported to be musculoskeletal. A previously healthy 3-year-old Caucasian male presented with odynophagia, anorexy, fever, refusal to bear weight, and vesicular exanthema. Varicella was diagnosed, but he sustained fever around 39°C and local tenderness on the proximal lateral portion of the right leg maintaining an antalgic position.

Measurement of cytokines and adhesion molecules in the first 72 hours after severe trauma: association with severity and outcome.

Introduction: Severity and outcome assessments are crucial in trauma. Our aim was to describe the role of a group of cytokines (TNFα, IL-6, IL-10, and HMGB-1) and ICAM-1 as severity and outcome assessment tools and their kinetics in the first 72 h after severe trauma.

Background: The improvement rescue and transport of politrauma patients (PTP) increases the number of patients admitted to the Emergency departments in very severe conditions. The early prediction of later complications and bad outcomes is paramount for a good strategy.
