Background: Patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) have reduced seroconversion rates and lower binding antibody (Ab) and neutralizing antibody (NAb) titers than healthy individuals following Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) mRNA vaccination. Here, we dissected vaccine-mediated humoral and cellular responses to understand the mechanisms underlying CLL-induced immune dysfunction.

The development of laser-controlled surface reactions has been limited by the lack of decisive methods for detecting evolving changes in surface chemistry. In this work, we demonstrate successful laser control of a surface reaction by combining the adaptive feedback control (AFC) technique with surface sensitive spectroscopy to determine the optimally shaped laser pulse. Specifically, we demonstrate laser induced deprotonation of the hydroxyl group of phenol bound to a silicon dioxide substrate.

Evidence shows that patients with opioid use disorder (OUD) have an increased rate of discharge against medical advice (DAMA) as well as higher rates of hospital readmission. Traditional approaches to achieving dopant functionalized Si involve grafting the dopant to the Si substrates through O-Si or C-Si bonds, resulting in indirect attachment of the dopant to the Si. Recently, ultrahigh vacuum work has demonstrated that high densities of direct B-Si bonds enable unprecedented electronic behaviors in Si that make it possible for Si to be used as a next-generation electronic material. As solvothermal approaches are inherently amenable to scale-up, there is currently a push to develop solvothermal approaches for the formation of direct dopant-Si bonds.

Metal-organic framework (MOF) thin films currently lack the mechanical stability needed for electronic device applications. Atomic precision advanced manufacturing (APAM) leverages the highly reactive nature of Si dangling bonds relative to H- or Cl-passivated Si to selectively adsorb precursor molecules into lithographically defined areas with sub-nanometer resolution. Due to the high reactivity of dangling bonds, this process is confined to ultra-high vacuum (UHV) environments, which currently limits its commercialization and broad-based appeal. To determine the level of epistemic curiosity in a sample of student pharmacists from three Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) programs as well as any differences in epistemic curiosity levels that exist between programs and with regard to professional year. Litman's Epistemic Curiosity Scale (ECS) was administered to student pharmacists at three different PharmD programs. Descriptive statistics were calculated, and overall mean ECS scores as well as mean scores on epistemic curiosity motivated by intellectual interest (I-type) and informational deprivation (D-type) were compared among student pharmacists at the three institutions using analysis of variance.

Background: Sickle cell disease is associated with frequent vaso-occlusive episode and emergency department visits. Our group developed (1) a vaso-occlusive episode treatment algorithm based on the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute recommendations, and (2) a case management referral form to identify social behavioral health needs of patients with sickle cell disease in the emergency department. Background: A common complication of viral pulmonary infections, such as in the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, is a phenomenon described as a "cytokine storm". While poorly defined, this hyperinflammatory response results in diffuse alveolar damage. The low molecular weight fraction of commercial human serum albumin (LMWF5A), a novel biologic in development for osteoarthritis, demonstrates beneficial in vitro immunomodulatory effects complimentary to addressing inflammation, thus, we hypothesize that LMWF5A could improve the clinical outcomes of COVID-19 by attenuating hyperinflammation and the potential development of a cytokine storm.

While some evidence-based vocational studies exist for adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), most focus on social interaction. This mixed methods exploratory study investigated a multimedia approach to training ASD adults as a strategy for increasing self-efficacy and producing positive training outcomes during the anticipatory socialization and encounter phases of organizational assimilation. Ten ASD adults, seven men and three women, 19 to 42 years of age, participated in the study, which utilized video and virtual reality to instruct participants on how to wire an electrical socket.
