2D semiconducting transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) are highly promising materials for future spin- and valleytronic applications and exhibit an ultrafast response to external (optical) stimuli which is essential for optoelectronics. Colloidal nanochemistry on the other hand is an emerging alternative for the synthesis of 2D TMDC nanosheet (NS) ensembles, allowing for the control of the reaction tunable precursor and ligand chemistry. Up to now, wet-chemical colloidal syntheses yielded intertwined/agglomerated NSs with a large lateral size.

This work describes the in situ synthesis of oligonucleotide arrays on glass surfaces. These arrays are composed of features defined and separated by differential surface tension (surface tension arrays). Specifically, photolithographic methods were used to create a series of spatially addressable, circular features containing an amino-terminated organosilane coupled to the glass through a siloxane linkage.

An automated, 96-well parallel array synthesizer for solid-phase organic synthesis has been designed and constructed. The instrument employs a unique reagent array delivery format, in which each reagent utilized has a dedicated plumbing system. An inert atmosphere is maintained during all phases of a synthesis, and temperature can be controlled via a thermal transfer plate which holds the injection molded reaction block.

In a controlled, randomised, prospective, clinical study, the effect of prolactin suppression and clinical course of the lactation suppressors Bromocriptine and Metergoline were investigated. During 7 months 150 patients were studied. 81 of those patients, who did not nurse, were treated by Bromocriptine (primary lactation suppression: n = 62, secondary suppression: n = 19) and 69 of the patients were treated by Metergoline (primary suppression: n = 54, secondary suppression: n = 15).

Reverse transcription of retroviral RNA into double-stranded DNA is catalyzed by reverse transcriptase (RT). A highly conserved polypurine tract (PPT) on the viral RNA serves as primer for plus-strand DNA synthesis and is a possible target for triple-helix formation. Triple-helix formation during reverse transcription involves either single-stranded RNA or an RNA.

In a randomized double-blind study, the effect of hypericum extract was compared to that of maprotiline in 24 healthy volunteers. The investigations included measurements of resting EEG as well as visual and acoustic evoked potentials. In resting EEGs, both medications revealed oppositely directed changes in the theta frequencies, and mainly similarly directed changes in alpha and beta frequencies.

Oligonucleotides bearing phosphorothioate linkages of the HIV tatIII splice acceptor site were synthesized by automated solid phase synthesis. Especially 5'- and 3'-end capped thioates of the sequence 5'-ACACCCAATTCTGAAAATGG-3' show microM inhibition of HIV replication. ODN-methylphosphonates of defined stereochemistry were obtained with suitably modified proline phosphonamidite derivatives as monomeric building blocks.

The effect of beta-acetyldigoxin (Novodigal) on color vision in normal, healthy subjects was studied using cortical evoked potentials. Initial results indicate a significant latency increase of one component of the visual evoked potential (VEP) and a dose dependency following a change of color from blue to red. The Farnsworth-Munsell-100-Hue test, however, showed no significant changes in color vision.
