Objective: This paper illustrates the preliminary psychometric properties of the Questionnaire for Adaptive Hyperactivity and Goal Achievement (AHGA), aimed at measuring adaptive characteristics of hyperactivity and goal pursuit in older adults.

Methods: The 12-item scale was administered to a sample of 120 subjects (older adults) between February 2022 and June 2022. The reliability of AHGA was measured using Cronbach's alpha, and factor structure was established using parallel analysis (PA) and principal component analysis (PCA).

Aging is known to increase the risk of falling. In older people, whose share in the total population is rising sharply, the Sensory Organization Test (SOT, Equitest NeuroCom) is a useful tool during rehabilitation and in clinical research for assessing postural stability, risk of falling, and balance improvement. Normative data for the SOT in the healthy population older than 79 years have not been previously published.

In a wide variety of habitats, including some heavily urbanised areas, the adaptability of populations of common bottlenose dolphin () may depend on the social structure dynamics. The retinas of nonmammalian vertebrates have cone photoreceptor mosaics that are often organized as highly patterned lattice-like distributions. In fishes, the two main lattice-like patterns are composed of double cones and single cones that are either assembled as interdigitized squares or as alternating rows. In the fish retina, rods and cones are responsible for nocturnal vision and colour perception, respectively, and exhibit a repertoire of light-sensitive opsin photopigments that permits the adaptation to different photic environment. The metamorphosis of Senegalese sole determines a migration from pelagic to benthic environments, which is accompanied by essential changes in light intensity and spectrum. Cyclic CNGRC (cCNGRC) peptides are very important targeting ligands for Aminopeptidase N (APN or CD13), which is overexpressed on the surface of many cancer cells. In this work we have (1) developed an efficient solid-phase synthesis and (2) tested on purified porcine APN and APN-expressing human cells two different classes of cCNGRC peptides: the first carrying a biotin affinity tag or a fluorescent tag attached to the carboxyl Arg-Cys-COOH terminus and the second with the tags attached to the amino H2N-Cys-Asn terminus. Carboxyl-terminus functionalized cCNGRC peptides 3, 6, and 8 showed good affinity for porcine APN and very good capacity to target and be internalized into APN-expressing cells.

A new series of 1H-benzofuro[3,2-c]pyrazole-3-carboxamides was synthesized. The novel compounds (15-24) were evaluated for their affinity to CB2 and CB1 cannabinoid receptors. Purpose: In 2005, new European legislation authorised Regulatory Agencies to require drug companies to submit a risk management plan (RMP) comprising detailed commitments for post-marketing pharmacovigilance. The aim of the study is to describe the characteristics of RMP for 15 drugs approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and their impact on post-marketing safety issues.

Methods: Of the 90 new Chemical Entities approved through a centralised procedure by the EMA during 2006 and 2007, 15 of them were selected and their safety aspects and relative RMPs analysed.

The binding of the conjugate of Hoechst 33258 with 5,10,15,20-tetrakis (1-methyl-4-pyridyl)-21H,23H-porphyrin (PORHOE) to single-strand DNA has been detected by UV-vis spectrophotometry and 1H-NMR. The red-shift of porphyrin Soret band with strong hypochromicity indicates that the porphyrin moiety dominates in the interaction of the PORHOE with ssDNA. The affinity constants of PORHOE for d(GCATACAATTCG) or d(CGAATTGTATGC) were determined to be >10(5) M(-1), with strong cooperativity.

We have probed by 1H NMR spectroscopy the molecular basis of the interaction between Hoechst 33258 conjugated to a des-metalloporphyrin and a non self-complementary duplex DNA sequence, designed on the known chemical nuclease selectivity of this system. The imino NMR spectra are consistent with two distinct families of structure, that is, PORHOE binding either way along the duplex. 2D spectral, T2, and linewidth data suggest multiple species within the two conformational families.

To increase the binding affinity and/or the sequence selectivity of the chemical nuclease manganese-(III) tetrakis(4-N-methylpyridiniumyl)porphyrin, we synthesized a conjugate molecule by associating a tris(4-N-methylpyridiniumyl)metalloporphyrin motif to Hoechst 33258 (H33258), a DNA minor groove binding dye known for its selective affinity for A-T tracts. Selected double-stranded (ds) 35-mer oligodeoxyribonucleotides have been used to probe DNA chain breakages induced by the managanese derivative of the conjugate after activation by potassium monopersulfate. Gel electrophoresis analyses show that DNA cuts were generated by the metalloporphyrin moiety of the hybrid molecule, with the H33258 entity interacting in two different possible orientations, upstream or downstream, with its preferred affinity site inside the minor groove.
