We investigate the effects of application of random time-shifts to the readouts of a reservoir computer in terms of both accuracy (training error) and performance (testing error). For different choices of the reservoir parameters and different "tasks," we observe a substantial improvement in both accuracy and performance. We then develop a simple but effective technique to optimize the choice of the time-shifts, which we successfully test in numerical experiments.

Purpose: The majority of gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) are driven by KIT, PDGFRA, or, less commonly, BRAF mutations, and SDH gene inactivation is involved in a limited fraction of gastric lesions. However, about 10% of GISTs are devoid of any of such alterations and are poorly responsive to standard treatments. This study aims to shed light on the molecular drivers of quadruple-negative GISTs.

Phytoestrogens are non-steroidal plant molecules whose structure differs from gonadal hormones, but with an estrogen-type bioactivity: they are capable of interacting with estrogen receptors, showing both agonist and antagonist methods of action. The beneficial effects of various classes of phytoestrogens present in nature are now known, but the main isoflavone present in soya, genistein, appears to be particularly effective. Interest in this substance is concentrated in particular on its therapeutic role in menopause.
