Background: Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and their tissue inhibitors (TIMPs) have been strongly implicated in the pathogenesis of many types of human cancer. We wanted to specifically define their role in established colorectal cancer liver metastases.
Patients And Methods: The MMP/TIMP expression profiles of N=9 colorectal primary tumour liver metastasis tissue pairs were determined using oligonucleotide-based arrays.
Success in cancer immunotherapy depends on the identification and efficient targeting of specific tumor-associated antigens. Two pivotal strategies to prime patients' immune system against malignant cells are tumor-specific adoptive T-cell therapy and tumor-specific vaccination. Here, we will focus on immunotherapeutic vaccination and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of different strategies to deliver tumor-specific T-cell epitopes.

We investigated the effect of UVB and X-ray irradiation on the export function of these ABC transporters in primary lymphocytes and various cancer cell lines.
Material And Methods: We used rhodamine accumulation assays in various human malignant cell lines and peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBL).
