Purpose: Symptomatic Chiari type I malformation (CM) is treated with posterior fossa decompression with/ without duroplasty. Few authors suggested cerebellar tonsil caudal migration due to a supposed "caudal traction" of cranial nerve structures in a so-called occult tethered cord syndrome. In this paper, the authors present the case of a patient with multifocal intradural extramedullary ependymoma, and they review 18 previously reported cases. A 32-year-old man presented to the authors' institution with a 1-month history of partial medullary syndrome. Magnetic resonance imaging of the neuraxis revealed multifocal intradural extramedullary lesions at the bulbomedullary junction and C2-3, T5-11, L-2, L-4, L-5, and sacrum.

Background: Plasma and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) concentrations of endothelin-1 (ET-1) were measured in patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) after aneurysmal rupture and compared with levels of ET-1 in volunteers. We analyze the relationship between levels of ET-1 in both CSF and plasma with the risk of developing cerebral vasospasm (CVS).
