Objectives: It has been reported that health professionals currently lack the required empathy, understanding, and knowledge about the deliberate restriction and/or omission of insulin to influence weight and/or shape, which may impact the quality of care provided. We sought to synthesize existing qualitative research pertaining to health professionals' experiences supporting individuals within this unique population.
Methods: We conducted a meta-synthesis using a meta-aggregative approach.
Problem: Evidence-informed, best-practice recommendations concerning bereavement photography following stillbirth have yet to be proposed.
Background: Previous research has highlighted the general importance of memory-making following pregnancy loss; however, scarce studies have specifically examined bereavement photography experiences.
Aim: To examine parents', healthcare professionals' and photographers' perspectives and experiences of stillbirth bereavement photography.
Tau-mediated neurodegeneration is a hallmark of Alzheimer's disease. Primary tauopathies are characterized by pathological tau accumulation and neuronal and synaptic loss. Apolipoprotein E (ApoE)-mediated neuroinflammation is involved in the progression of tau-mediated neurodegeneration, and emerging evidence suggests that the gut microbiota regulates neuroinflammation in an APOE genotype-dependent manner.

Spontaneous fluctuations of resting-state functional connectivity have been studied in many ways, but grasping the complexity of brain activity has been difficult. Dimensional complexity measures, which are based on Eigenvalue (EV) spectrum analyses (e.g.

Methods: A cross-sectional survey with a researcher-administered food frequency and food insecurity questionnaire was undertaken with 50 young people experiencing homelessness, aged 14-26 years.

Issue Addressed: Food insecurity is recognised as an increasing problem in disadvantaged and marginalised groups. The aim of this study was to investigate issues associated with food insecurity and nutrition in young people experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness in metropolitan Australia.
Methods: Eight focus group discussions were conducted with 48 young people (aged between 15 and 25 years) in specialist homelessness services in central and south-western Sydney.
Objectives: Benzyl Butyl Phthalate (BBP) is an industrial plasticizer that has an unknown action in the central nervous system. Phthalates have recently been associated with behavioral actions that are linked to their endocrine disrupting properties. The purpose of this study was to investigate the behavioral and molecular effects of BBP treatment in male rats.

Macrophages are a well-known source of IL-18; however, renal tubular epithelial cells are also a potential source of this cytokine. We hypothesized that IL-18 is predominantly a renal tubular cell product and is produced during renal obstruction independent of macrophage infiltration.

Background: The aim of this study was to compare the functional results of surgical treatment of idiopathic macular holes in controlled clinical studies with those of the "real world" in the clinical routine.
Methods: The operated eyes of patients of a rural district (Saalfeld-Rudolstadt, Germany) during 2000-2009 were analysed based on the documentation of the postoperative care of all ophthalmologists in this region.
Results: 37 eyes of 37 patients (age 71 years, 45; 80) (median, [min; max]) operated in 7 clinical institutes were analysed.
Renal tubular cell apoptosis is a significant component of obstruction-induced renal injury, and it results in a progressive loss in renal parenchymal mass during renal obstruction. Although IL-18 is an important mediator of inflammatory renal disease and renal fibrosis, its role in obstruction-induced renal tubular cell apoptosis remains unclear. To study this, male C57BL6 wild-type mice and C57BL6 mice transgenic for human IL-18-binding protein (IL-18BP Tg) were subjected to renal obstruction vs.

We determined the technical feasibility, efficacy, adjustability, and safety of adjustable continence therapy device for treatment of moderate to severe recurrent urinary incontinence after failed surgical procedure.
Materials And Methods: Female patients with moderate to severe recurrent stress urinary incontinence who had at least one prior surgical procedure for incontinence were enrolled.
Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (PNETs) are rare primary neoplasms of the pancreas and arise sporadically or in the context of genetically determined syndromes. Depending on hormone production and sensing, PNETs clinically manifest due to a hormone-related syndrome (functional PNET) or by symptoms related to tumor bulk effects (non-functional PNET). So far, radical surgical excision is the only therapy to cure the disease.

Introduction: Cal. 9 mm x 17 mm industrial blank cartridges deserve special interest in the field of forensic ballistic. This calibre is most often used in Kerner-type livestock stunners, but also in different power tools.

Materials And Methods: Female patients with recurrent stress urinary incontinence were enrolled in the study and a defined set of exclusionary criteria were followed. Baseline and regular followup tests to determine eligibility, and to measure subjective and objective improvement were performed.

Introduction: Vole captive bolt devices are powder actuated spring guns that are used as a pest control mean. After having triggered the explosion of the blank cartridge by touching a metal ring around the muzzle, the vole is killed by the massive propulsion of the gas jet. Improper use and recklessness while handling these devices may cause severe injuries with the hand of the operator at particular risk.

Oxalate and other stone precursors have been shown to increase IL-6 production in proximal tubular epithelial cells in vitro. We examined whether urinary IL-6 could be used as a screening test to determine current urolithiasis in individuals who are known to form urinary stones.

Given such circumstances, the presence of several mechanisms to prevent polyspermy (too many sperm) may seem paradoxical; however, a growing body of data suggests that natural fertilization levels, though variable, can routinely be high. Under such conditions, polyspermy is much more likely.

This high background can be eliminated in unfixed cryostat sections of mouse skeletal muscle by boiling sections in PBS, and several proteins including even the low abundant dystrophin protein can then be easily detected with murine monoclonal antibodies. However, not all antigens withstand the boiling procedure.

Materials And Methods: Patients with microhematuria who were found to have a distal ureteral stone and who were candidates for conservative management were enrolled in the study. Patients were typically seen in clinic at 1 to 2 weeks after initial diagnosis and reassessed.
TP53 is a transcriptional activator and regulates genomic instability and cellular responses to DNA damage in response to ionising radiation. The molecular mechanism behind p53-mediated responses, such as, apoptosis and genomic instability remains unclear. An in vitro model of biological effects to irradiation was established.
