Background: Degenerative changes in the cervical spine can include the gradual loss of functionality of the intervertebral disks, development of osteophytes and ligament hypertrophy. Removal of the intervertebral disk and replacement with a cage (anterior discectomy and fusion [ACDF]) is a standardized operative procedure in these patients. The implant should provide structural support, should restore the physiologic lordosis, and enable a solid fusion.

Materials And Methods: We tested Amphotericin in PMMA cement mechanically, its elution properties in vitro and present two cases of fungal PJI treated with Amphotericin B powder in Copal cement in vivo.
Introduction: Clean intermittent catheterization (CIC) has significant advantages over indwelling catheters. To facilitate CIC, a continent catheterizable channel (CCC) to the bladder is required in some cases. The Mitrofanoff appendicovesicostomy (APV) is considered the gold standard for pediatric CCC creation.

Studies using (=1/ ) relaxometry, a common MRI-based iron mapping technique, have reported increased values in various brain structures of migraineurs, indicating iron accumulation compared to healthy controls.
Purpose: To investigate whether there are short-term changes in during a migraine attack.
Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are an ever-growing hazard for health and environment due to their increased emissions and accumulation in the air. Quantum cascade laser-based infrared (QCL-IR) sensors hold significant promise for gas monitoring, thanks to their compact, rugged design, high laser intensity, and high molecule-specific detection capabilities within the mid-infrared spectrum's fingerprint region. In this work, tunable external cavity QCLs were complemented by an innovative germanium-on-silicon integrated optics waveguide sensing platform with integrated microlenses for efficient backside optical interfacing for the tunable laser spectrometer.

Recent advances in migraine therapy have focused on the calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) pathway. This review examines the shared pathomechanisms between migraine and stroke, with emphasis on the role of CGRP.

People in crisis sometimes seek professional support, and the relationship between service users and professionals is crucial in overcoming the crisis. To understand the relationship needs of people in crisis, 29 semi-structured interviews with service users were conducted and analyzed using a grounded-theory approach. The findings reveal that people in crisis seek a professional who is there for them, recognizes the crisis as an emergency and a solvable situation, treats them with respect, and offers individual support.

In this work, we demonstrate the alignment tolerant behavior of a germanium-on-silicon trenched waveguide platform with monolithically integrated microlenses using backside coupling of an expanded beam for evanescent field sensing between 6.5 and 7.

Disease management programs in Germany mostly lack components to improve patients' self-management and health-promoting lifestyles despite clear guideline recommendations. Therefore, a Personalized Self-Management Support Program (P-SUP) was developed, which includes: (1) peer support groups; (2) telephone coaching; (3) feedback reports and, (4) a web portal.

They protect the surface of steel pipes through a film-forming mechanism, providing both anodic and cathodic inhibition. To improve the efficiency of the corrosion protection, it is essential to understand the interactions between the surfactants and metal surfaces.

We aimed to investigate the relationship between pial collateralization and tissue oxygen extraction in patients with LVO using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
Methods: Data from 14 patients with anterior circulation LVO who underwent MRI before acute stroke treatment were analyzed.
Background: Idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) is a debilitating condition characterized by increased intracranial pressure often presenting with chronic migraine-like headache. Calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) plays an important pathophysiological role in primary headaches such as migraine, whilst its role in IIH has not yet been established.
Methods: This longitudinal exploratory study included patients with IIH, episodic migraine (EM) in a headache-free interval and healthy controls (HC).
Background: Primary care research networks can generate important information in the setting where most patients are seen and treated. However, this requires a suitable IT infrastructure (ITI), which the North Rhine-Westphalian general practice research network is looking to implement.
Objective: This mixed methods research study aims to evaluate (study 1) requirements for an ITI and (study 2) the usability of an IT solution already available on the market, the FallAkte Plus (FA+) system for the North Rhine-Westphalian general practice research network, which comprises 8 primary care university institutes in Germany's largest state.

Aim: This study has investigated cases of pin site infection (PSI) which required surgery for persistent osteomyelitis (OM) despite pin removal.
Materials And Methods: Patients requiring surgery for OM after PSI between 2011 and 2021 were included in this retrospective cohort study. Single-stage surgery was performed in accordance with a protocol at one institution.
Introduction: A crisis can be described as subjective experience that threatens and overwhelms a person's ability to handle a specific situation. In dealing with crises some people are looking for support from professionals. The "professional relationship" between people experiencing a crisis and professionals plays an important role in the successful management of a crisis which has been widely researched in many contexts.

Several classifications and diagnostic approaches have been used with reported incidences varying widely from 1 to 100 %. The quality of the existing literature is limited by the absence of a definition.

Our work demonstrated that the proposed CNT-based PUFs are exceptionally robust with an average fractional intra-device Hamming distance well below 0.01 both at room temperature and under varying temperatures in the range from 23 ∘C to 120 ∘C.

Here, we report the development and validation of a rapid, high throughput method for measuring SARS-CoV-2 nAbs against native-like trimeric spike proteins. This assay uses a blockade of human angiotensin converting enzyme 2 (hACE-2) binding (BoAb) approach in an automated digital immunoassay on the Quanterix HD-X platform.

Methods: The anatomical structures were segmented within the CT-scan. Afterwards, the Multi Jet Fusion 3D-printing was applied to create the model made of biocompatible and steam-sterilizable plastic.
Rapid antigen tests (RATs) have become an invaluable tool for combating the COVID-19 pandemic. However, concerns have been raised regarding the ability of existing RATs to effectively detect emerging SARS-CoV-2 variants. We compared the performance of 10 commercially available, emergency use authorized RATs against the Delta and Omicron SARS-CoV-2 variants using both individual patient and serially diluted pooled clinical samples.

LY-CoV1404 (bebtelovimab) exemplifies this, displaying exceptional potency against Omicron sub-variants up to BA.5.

Previous work from our laboratory has demonstrated that the experimental infection of mice with T. cruzi positively modulates the expression of CD40 by myocardial cells, whose ligation potentiates IFN-γ-induced IL-6 production.
