- Intrasphenoid septations need to be completely removed during expanded endonasal transsphenoidal surgery, especially if they are near the internal carotid artery (ICA) to avoid vascular injuries.
- The study aims to assess how common these septations are in relation to the internal carotid artery protuberance (ICAp).
- Analysis of CT scans from 421 patients revealed that over half had septations in the ICAp, with higher rates observed in patients with well-pneumatised sphenoid sinuses, highlighting the need for detailed pre-operative evaluations.
Acoustic neuromas are the most common tumors in the cerebellopontine angle. The molecular mechanisms involved in generation and growth of these tumors are not completely elucidated. Many radiological, clinic and immunohistochemistry data were correlated to tumor growth.
