[Surgery of intractable epilepsy in infants and adolescents. Case report].

Our objective is to present a series of 20 cases of children under 15 years operated on of intractable epilepsy in the last 12 years in Sanatorio Allende of Córdoba, based on medical records and follow up. Were included 8 patients with cortical dysplasias, 6 with tumors, 2 with Rasmüssen syndrome, 1 with mesial gliosis, 1 with porencephalic cyst, 1 with gliosis due to traumatic brain injury, and 1 with encephalitis history. Localization was temporal in 9 cases and extra-temporal in 11 cases (4 were frontal, 4 occipital, and 3 parietal).

Histological findings in cerebellar tonsils of patients with Chiari type I malformation.

Objectives: Cerebellar tonsillectomy is often performed for relief of symptoms associated with Chiari type I malformation (CMI). Nonetheless, the idea of removing supposedly healthy central nervous tissue has been a source of concern for neurosurgeons. The aim of this paper is to determine the histological changes in the cerebellar tonsils of patients with a wide range of symptoms and conditions related to CMI.

Symptomatic supratentorial arachnoid cysts in children.

This study was undertaken to evaluate the clinical and radiologic long-term outcome of symptomatic primary arachnoid cysts in pediatric patients. Thirty-three children, ranging from 2 months to 17 years of age (mean age, 6 years) were treated. Craniotomy and fenestration of the cyst were used for temporal fossa and midline cysts in 24 patients (73%); later, two patients required shunt placement.
