Background: Paravalvular leak (PVL) after transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) is frequent and the impact of mild PVL on outcomes remains uncertain. Our study aimed to evaluate the impact of PVL on TAVI outcomes.
Methods: To analyze late outcomes of patients after TAVI according to the presence and severity of PVL, PubMed/MEDLINE, EMBASE and Google Scholar were searched for studies that reported rates of all-cause mortality/survival and/or rehospitalization and/or cardiovascular mortality accompanied by at least one Kaplan-Meier curve for any of these outcomes.

It is crucial to understand why people comply with measures to contain viruses and their effects during pandemics. We provide evidence from 35 countries (N = 12,553) from 6 continents during the COVID-19 pandemic (between 2021 and 2022) obtained via cross-sectional surveys that the social perception of key protagonists on two basic dimensions-warmth and competence-plays a crucial role in shaping pandemic-related behaviors. Firstly, when asked in an open question format, heads of state, physicians, and protest movements were universally identified as key protagonists across countries.

Although this is an extremely rare entity, in contradistinction, it is also the most common primary malignancy of the IVC [5]. The patient has a history of sarcoidosis, hypertension, diabetes mellitus type two, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Methods: We conducted a retrospective, cohort study of 376 adult HT recipients between October 1997 and November 2019.
Introduction: Bladder exstrophy (BE) is a rare, complex malformation. There are three major approaches to closure. Despite this choice, abdominal wall closure in such patients is usually a challenging procedure specially in large defects and redo cases.

Early diagnosis of pediatric cancer is key for adequate patient management and improved outcome. Although multiparameter flow cytometry (MFC) has proven of great utility in the diagnosis and classification of hematologic malignancies, its application to non-hematopoietic pediatric tumors remains limited. Here we designed and prospectively validated a new single eight-color antibody combination-solid tumor orientation tube, STOT-for diagnostic screening of pediatric cancer by MFC.

Given the progressive nature of CAD, silent or non-significant CAD may become symptomatic or functionally relevant years after TAVR. However, there is a paucity of data documenting the feasibility of either coronary angiography and/or PCI after TAVR.

It was evaluated the sensorial, and the color, lipid oxidation, and visual acceptance in display of dry-aged beef (0, 14, and 28 days) from young bulls slaughtered with different subcutaneous fat thickness (2.00, 3.

Methods: National Cancer Data Base (NCDB)-pancreatectomy patients who underwent NCT/NRT were included. The NCT-S interval was divided into time quintiles in weeks: 8 to 11, 12 to 14, 15 to 19, 20 to 29, and >29 weeks.
Chronic mesenteric ischemia is an uncommon disorder in the USA. Frequently, a percutaneous approach is the first therapeutic choice to reduce its symptoms and improve outcomes. After an initial treatment with stents, further interventions might be necessary to address in-stent restenosis and re-establish a better visceral flow.

The general idea was to tailor the signal response of the nitrogen- and oxygen-doped titanium-copper thin film (TiCu(N,O))-based transducers, in order to optimize their use in temperature sensor devices. The results reveal that the nitrogen or oxygen doping level has an evident effect on the thermoresistive response of TiCu(N,O) films.

Several programs have integrated robotic-based simulators and models into surgical education; however, residents' robotic experience in the operating room is currently limited. We sought to assess the safety and feasibility of robotic cholecystectomy (RC) when independently performed by GS chief residents.

Methods: Comprehensive online databases search was performed.
Background: Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a major cause of morbidity and mortality following distal pancreatectomy (DP). However, the influence of operative technique on VTE risk after DP is unknown.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the association between the MIS technique versus the open technique and the development of postoperative VTE after DP.
Sentinel lymph node (SLN) biopsy has become the standard of care for lymph node staging in melanoma and the most important predictor of survival in clinically node-negative disease. Previous guidelines recommend completion lymph node dissection (CLND) in cases of positive SLN; however, the lymph nodes recovered during CLND are only positive in a minority of these cases. Recent evidence suggests that conservative management ( observation) has similar outcomes compared to CLND.

Current professional society guidelines recommend culprit artery only PCI. Recent evidence suggests the potential benefit of multivessel PCI among patients with STEMI that is not complicated by cardiogenic shock.

This skill is mostly utilized by physicians in the acute and critical care settings. It is unclear whether surgical residents' interpretation skills differ from that of other trainees.

Methods: We conducted an electronic search through PubMed utilizing the PRISMA guidelines. We included all randomized and nonrandomized studies which allowed for comparative analysis between the two groups.
Background: The optimal management of melanoma with positive sentinel lymph node (SLN) remains unclear. Completion lymph node dissection (CLND) only yields additional positive non-SLN in 20% of cases and its benefits on survival remains debatable.
Methods: An online database search of Medline was performed; key bibliographies were reviewed.
Background: Esophageal gastrointestinal stromal tumors (E-GIST) and leiomyosarcoma (E-LMS) are rare tumors. Previous studies are limited to small number of patients. We sought to study these two tumors using a large national database.
