A simple, less invasive stripper micropipetter-based technique for day 3 embryo biopsy.

Background: Preimplantation genetic screening (PGS) is an important procedure for in vitro fertilization (IVF). A key step of PGS, blastomere removal, is abundant with many technical issues. The aim of this study was to compare a more simple procedure based on the Stipper Micropipetter, named S-biopsy, to the conventional aspiration method.

Changes in receptivity epithelial cell markers of endometrium after ovarian stimulation treatments: its role during implantation window.

Background: To compare the expression of receptivity markers in epithelial and stromal cells in the endometrium of ovulatory women and infertile with hypothalamic pituitary dysfunction (HPD), untreated or treated with clomiphene citrate (CC), or with recombinant follicle stimulating hormone (rFSH).

Methods: Twelve control ovulatory and 32 anovulatory women, 22 of whom received ovulation induction with CC (n = 12) or rFSH (n = 10). Endometrial biopsies were obtained during the mid-secretory phase.

Unremitting cell proliferation in the secretory phase of eutopic endometriosis: involvement of pAkt and pGSK3β.

Objective: Endometriosis is linked to altered cell proliferation and stem cell markers c-kit/stem cell factor (SCF) in ectopic endometrium. Our aim was to investigate whether c-kit/SCF also plays a role in eutopic endometrium.

Design: Eutopic endometrium obtained from 35 women with endometriosis and 25 fertile eumenorrheic women was analyzed for in situ expression of SCF/c-kit, Ki67, RAC-alpha serine/threonine-protein kinase (Akt), phosphorylated RAC-alpha serine/threonin-protein kinase (pAkt), Glycogen synthase kinase 3 beta (GSK3β), and phosphorylated glycogen synthase kinase 3 beta (pGSK3β), throughout the menstrual cycle.

[Functionality and endometrial changes associated with induction ovulation with citrate of clomifene and recombinant FSH in infertile women].

It has been reported that infertility affects approximately 20% of couples in reproductive age around the world. Although many factors involved, ovulatory dysfunction and particularly the hypothalamus pituitary dysfunction are quite common. The first line treatment for these pathologies consists on the administration of inducing ovulation agents such as recombinant gonadotropins and clomiphene citrate which it was obtained high rates of ovulation but not of pregnancy.

Normal and cancer stem cells of the human female reproductive system.

The female reproductive system (FRS) has a great capacity for regeneration. The existence of somatic stem cells (SSC) that are likely to reside in distinct tissue compartments of the FRS is anticipated. Normal SSC are capable of regenerating themselves, produce a progeny of cells that differentiate and maintain tissue architecture and functional characteristics, and respond to homeostatic controls.
