Background: Endoanal ultrasound for the diagnosis of anal fistulas requires the injection of hydrogen peroxide, but it is often uncomfortable for the patient and has the potential to cause complications. Novel ultrasound contrast is currently available.
Objective: To assess the efficacy and safety of sulfur hexafluoride as an ultrasound contrast agent for the diagnosis of a perianal fistula by comparing it with those of 50% diluted hydrogen peroxide.

Introduction: Peritoneal sarcomatosis is a rare disease, with multiple histological origins and poor overall prognosis. The option of radical cytoreductive surgery (CRS) with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) is controversial. The results of a surgical team experienced in these procedures are analyzed and discussed based on the available evidence.

Purpose: To describe and compare a peritoneal closure technique using cyanoacrylate glue (Glubran 2, GEM, Cardiolink SL) with a microdroplet device (Glutack, GEM, Cardiolink SL) in laparoscopic transabdominal preperitoneal repair (TAPP) of inguinal hernia with the routinely used barbed suture peritoneal closure (V-Lock 3.0, Covidien France).
Materials And Methods: From January to August 2022, 60 patients undergoing TAPP repair for uni- or bilateral inguinal hernia were randomized into one of two groups.

Background And Aims: Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a prevalent disorder with a complex and heterogeneous physiopathology, including a dysregulation of gut-brain axis. Treatment for IBS is targeted to the predominant symptom and requires a multidisciplinary approach. This review aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of sacral nerve stimulation in non-constipated IBS patients Methods: A literature search was carried out on MEDLINE, The Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL) and Web of Science databases for all relevant articles.

The main goal of this study is to analyze the outcomes of liver transplant (LT) when it is performed with donors older than 75 years.
Methods: We carried out a retrospective case-control study (N = 212) that included LTs with donors older than 75 years (group A, n = 106 cases) that were performed in our center between the years 2010 and 2020.
Aim: The aim of the study was to evaluate urgent care practice with regard to anorectal abscesses (AA) in a tertiary-level referral hospital.
Materials And Methods: this was retrospective and unicentric study. Patients who underwent surgery for AA between 2016 and 2017 were included in the study.
Introduction: Soft tissue infections (STIs), which include infections of the skin, subcutaneous tissue, fascia, and muscle, encompass a wide variety of heterogeneous pathologies. Treatment of STIs is based on surgical debridement of the affected area. One such treatment, negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT), has improved the management of STIs.

Introduction: Among the strategies designed to optimize the number of existing liver grafts for transplantation, the implementation of the graft assessment process is one of the least explored. The main objective is to identify the risk factors presented by liver donors for «NO validity». Secondly, we analyzed the coincidence between the surgeon's assessment and that of the anatomo-pathologist in the invalid donors.

The aim of this study is to analyze the impact of the body mass index (BMI) of the recipient on survival and morbidity after liver transplantation (LT).
Material And Methods: We conducted a retrospective cohort study of all transplanted recipients in a third-level hospital between 2006 and 2018.
Fecal incontinence is one of the leading causes for the institutionalization of people in the last decades of life, associated with a great psychosocial and economic burden. The literature is scarce in this population group, due to the absence of universally accepted criteria to define "elderly patients" and difficulties in detection and diagnostic. The aim of this article was to conduct a narrative review of the main aspects related to fecal incontinence in older patients, providing management support.

Posterior mediastinum parathyroid ectopia is rare, and glands need to be removed either with a broad open cervical or thoracic approach. In recent years, several minimally invasive approaches to mediastinal parathyroid glands have been described, but for posterior mediastinum adenomas, proposed techniques are transthoracic.

Although initial treatment is medical, the role of emergency surgery has gained ground due to high mortality and the emergence of increasingly virulent strains. In our country the prevalence is still low so that sometimes our experience in handling is limited.

Creating the pneumoperitoneum is the first surgical procedure but it is still responsible for many of the adverse events described in this field. Until now, liver puncture producing a delayed biloma has not been described.
