In this article, we show that the dielectric constant of lead-free ferroelectric ceramics based on the solid solution (1-x)(Bi(0.5)Na(0.5))TiO(3)-xBaTiO(3), with compositions at or near the morphotropic phase boundary (MPB), can be tuned by a local applied electric field.

Accidental falls of our elderly, and physical injuries resulting, represent a major health and economic. Falls are the most common causes of serious injuries and a major health threats in the stratum of older population. Early detection of a fall is a key factor when trying to provide adequate care to the elderly person who has suffered an accident at home.
