Background: Mammographic screening has been used to reduce breast cancer mortality worldwide and remains the main modality for the early detection of this disease. Women from low- and middle-income countries still lack access to periodic mammograms and efficient health care. This cross-sectional study aimed to explore opportunistic mammographic coverage in Brazil, while considering the privately insured population and its association with early breast cancer (EBC) detection.

There is still no consensus on the optimal method for collecting TIF. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a new method of collecting TIF in invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC) samples for cytokine interleukin 1β (IL1β) quantification.

Purpose: Breast cancer screening is not recommended for young women (< 40 years old); therefore, those diagnosed are more likely to have advanced and metastatic disease, reducing treatment outcomes. This study aimed to investigate breast cancer epidemiology among young women in Brazil.
Methods: Data from three publicly available databases and a cohort from a university hospital in Brazil were analyzed in a retrospective study.

Objective: Chemotherapy is a type of systemic treatment that inhibits neoplastic cells (cancer cells), produces immunosuppression, and may lead to changes in the oral mucosa and, consequently, in the oral microbiota. The aim of this systematic review was to analyze, in the scientific literature, evidence of the impact of chemotherapy on the oral microbiota.
Study Design: The authors conducted a search in PubMed/MEDLINE, Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), LILACS, ScienceDirect, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library; to identify studies that discussed change in the oral microbiota of patients with during chemotherapy.
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is an autosomal recessive genetic disorder characterized by dysfunction of the CFTR gene. It is a multisystem disease that most often affects White individuals. In recent decades, various advances in the diagnosis and treatment of CF have drastically changed the scenario, resulting in a significant increase in survival and quality of life.

Methods: This study is a cross sectional survey performed in a tertiary care University Hospital.
Rationale, Aims And Objectives: To analyse anthropometric parameters, clinical pain and experimental pain in women with chronic pelvic pain (CPP).
Methods: Ninety-one women with a clinical diagnosis of CPP, mean age of 40.03 ± 9.

Objective: The real benefit of follow-up cervical cytology in women treated for gynecological cancer is unclear. This study was designed to assess the rate of success of cytological examinations in the detection of early vaginal recurrence of gynecological cancer in women found by other methods to have vaginal recurrence of cervical and endometrial cancer.
Data Sources: Records of cytological examinations.

Evidence-based techniques have been increasingly used in the creation of clinical guidelines and the development of recommendations for medical practice. The use of levels of evidence allows the reader to identify the quality of scientific information that supports the recommendations made by experts. The objective of this review was to address current concepts related to the clinical impact, diagnosis, and treatment of Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections in patients with cystic fibrosis.

From a clinical viewpoint, CPP is defined as non-cyclic, non-menstrual pain lasting at least 6 months and sufficiently severe to interfere with habitual activities and requiring clinical or surgical treatment. Thus, CPP is a syndrome resulting from a complex interaction of the nervous, musculoskeletal and endocrine systems and also influenced by psychological and sociocultural factors.

Design: Observational study of 48 healthy female volunteers and 108 women with CPP, who were clinically evaluated for pelvic muscle tenderness by two researchers blinded to all clinical data.
Results: The frequency of clinically detected pelvic muscle tenderness was significantly higher in women with CPP than in healthy volunteers (58.
Background: Surgical staging (SS) is the gold standard for determination of the true extent of a patient's disease and is an important prognostic factor in cervical cancer. We investigated whether lymph node dissection (LND) prior to chemotherapy (CT) followed by radical surgery (RS) could modified overall (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS).
Methods: We performed a cohort analysis of 98 patients with cervical carcinoma.
Background: Chronic pelvic pain (CPP) is a lower abdominal pain lasting at least 6 months, occurring continuously or intermittently and not associated exclusively with menstruation or intercourse. Although the musculoskeletal system has been found to be involved in CPP, few studies have assessed the contribution of posture in women with CPP. We aimed to determine if the frequency of postural changes was higher in women with CPP than healthy subjects.

Methods: four patients aged between 33 and 43 years were included in the study. They all presented umbilical bleeding associated or not with pelvic pain, and medical history varied from two months to four years.
Purpose: to compare the epidemiologic and clinical characteristics, and the follow-up of breast cancer in women diagnosed under and over 40 years of age.
Methods: a retrospective study, case-control type, with analysis of information obtained from medical records of patients attended from January 1994 to June 2004. Cases of intraductal carcinoma and at stage IV were excluded.
Objectives: Studies have shown that women previously treated for breast cancer present fewer cardiovascular events, indicating a possible protective effect of tamoxifen treatment. The effects of these aromatase inhibitors on cardiovascular protection remain controversial. The aim of this study was to compare some cardiovascular risk markers among breast cancer survivors following treatment with tamoxifen group (TMXg), letrozole group (LTZg) or no endocrine treatment group (NETg).

The main cause of death among Brazilian women is cardiovascular disease followed by cancer with breast cancer as the most incident. The relationship between cancer and thrombosis is well known, although its association with other cardiovascular events is poorly understood. In order to study these events from the earliest findings such as endothelial injury and dysfunction and the evolving atherosclerotic plaque, many methods are currently being used.

Patients And Methods: A case-control study was performed and included 65 patients: 13 patients presented febrile neutropenia and four controls per case matched by: date and number of previous chemotherapy cycles, drugs and doses used. The clinical and laboratory data were obtained from medical records.
Objectives: To describe the hepatic abnormalities revealed by ultrasound examination of cystic fibrosis (CF) patients followed at the CF Outpatient Clinic at the Federal University of Minas Gerais; to compare ultrasound data with clinical and biochemical parameters; to validate the Williams ultrasound score for the diagnosis of liver disease in CF.
Methods: Seventy cystic fibrosis patients were followed prospectively and underwent clinical, biochemical and ultrasound examinations. The ultrasound findings were compared to the results of the clinical and biochemical examinations.
