Postpartum unintended pregnancy and contraception practice among rural-to-urban migrant women in Shanghai.

Background: Rural-to-urban migrant women in Shanghai have poor reproductive health; the incidence of postpartum unintended pregnancy and contraceptive practices has not been adequately studied in this population.

Study Design: This retrospective study examined the incidence of postpartum unintended pregnancy and associated factors among migrant women and included a medical records reviews, telephone interviews and in-depth face-to-face interviews.

Results: The incidence of unintended pregnancy during the first and second years postpartum was 12.

Compartmentalization of gene expression during sporulation of Bacillus subtilis is compromised in mutants blocked at stage III of sporulation.

Mutations in the spoIIIA and spoIIIJ loci disrupt the compartmentalization of gene expression during sporulation of Bacillus subtilis. The breakdown in compartmentalization is not the cause of their being blocked in spore formation. Rather, it appears to be a consequence of the engulfed prespore's being unstable.

Cardiac 5-HT(4) serotoninergic receptors, 52kD SSA/Ro and autoimmune-associated congenital heart block.

It was recently reported that sera from patients with systemic lupus erythematosus contain antibodies reactive with the second extracellular loop of the serotoninergic 5-HT(4) receptor expressed in the human heart. This antibody response was associated with antibodies to 52kD SSA/Ro, a reactivity prevalent in mothers of children with congenital heart block (CHB). The current study was undertaken to determine whether the 5-HT(4) receptor is a target of the immune response in these mothers.
