Toward development of PreVoid alerting system for nocturnal enuresis patients: A fuzzy-based approach for determining the level of liquid encased in urinary bladder.

Preventive and accurate assessment of bladder voiding dysfunctions necessitates measuring the amount of liquid encapsulated within urinary bladder walls in a non-invasive and real-time manner. The real-time monitoring of urine levels helps patients with urological disorders such as Nocturnal Enuresis (NE) by preventing the occurrence of enuresis via a pre-void stage alerting system. Although some advances have been achieved toward developing a non-invasive approach for determining the amount of accumulated urine inside the bladder, there is still a lack of an easy-to-implement technique which is suitable to embed in a wearable pre-warning device.

Effect of different font sizes and of spaces between words on eye movement performance: An eye tracker study in dyslexic and non-dyslexic children.

The aim of the present study was to explore the possible change in eye movement performance in a group of dyslexic and non-dyslexic children reading four lines of a text with different font sizes and spaces between the words. Fifteen dyslexic children from 7 to 12 years old and two groups of fifteen non-dyslexic children, respectively reading and chronological age-matched group, participated in this study. Horizontal eye movements from both eyes were recorded by a video-system (EyeBrain T2®) while the children were reading a text.

Application of an ensemble technique based on singular spectrum analysis to daily rainfall forecasting.

In previous work, we have proposed a constructive methodology for temporal data learning supported by results and prescriptions related to the embedding theorem, and using the singular spectrum analysis both in order to reduce the effects of the possible discontinuity of the signal and to implement an efficient ensemble method. In this paper we present new results concerning the application of this approach to the forecasting of the individual rain-fall intensities series collected by 135 stations distributed in the Tiber basin. The average RMS error of the obtained forecasting is less than 3mm of rain.
