Objective: Novel mRNA-based vaccines have been proven to be powerful tools in combating the global pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2 protecting individuals, especially the immunocompromised, from COVID-19. Still, it remains largely unknown how solid organ transplant and different immunosuppressive medications affect development of vaccine-induced immunity.
Methods: In this work, we monitored humoral and cellular memory responses after mRNA SARS-CoV-2 two-doses and booster doses vaccination in cystic fibrosis lung transplanted patients (CFT) and compared them with both cystic fibrosis patients without lung transplant (CF) and with kidney transplant recipients (KT).
Aim: To estimate hospitalisation rate and investigate the role of age, prematurity and vaccination status in severe pertussis cases.
Methods: We retrospectively evaluated 200 children aged 0-14 years, admitted to the emergency rooms of Meyer Hospital of Florence and Pisa Hospital with a diagnosis of pertussis from 1 October 2010 to 31 January 2020.
Results: Children younger than 12 months were 63.

Background: Gibberellin-regulated proteins (GRPs, Peamaclein) are allergens recently identified in plant-derived food allergy (FA), and little is known about the clinical manifestations of this allergic condition in the European population, especially in children.
Objective: Our study aimed to identify and characterize pediatric patients with pollen-FA due to GRP sensitization.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the charts of patients referred to the Allergy Unit of the Meyer Children's Hospital in Florence for suspected FA.
This cross-sectional study, including children hospitalized for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 infection, demonstrates for the first time that nonhealthcare worker parents perform similarly to healthcare workers in the administration to their children of an unsupervised nasal swab for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 detection by following written instructions and video tutorials.

This study demonstrates that self-collected nasal-swab has shown to be a valid and well tolerated procedure to SARS-CoV-2 surveillance in a healthcare system. More significantly, no performance adequacy difference was detected in self-administered swabs between healthcare worker (HCW) and non-HCW which allows to speculate that this procedure could be successfully extended to the entire population for mass screening.
