Cytokines such as interleukin-8 activate the immune system during infection and interact with sulfated glycosaminoglycans with specific sulfation patterns. In some cases, these interactions are mediated by metal ion binding which can be used to tune surface-based glycan-protein interactions. We evaluated the effect of both hyaluronan sulfation degree and Fe on interleukin-8 binding by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and surface characterizations.

Herein we report the use of Rhodiasolv Polarclean as a novel polar aprotic solvent for the synthesis of decorated heterocycles via dipolar cycloaddition (isooxazoles) or intramolecular C-H functionalization processes (benzo-fused chromenes). The use of Polarclean allowed to isolate the final products in good yields by simple solid filtration or liquid-liquid phase separation, avoiding the need for chromatographic purification. Moreover, since in the synthesis of benzo-fused chromenes, the metal catalyst is retained in Polarclean, the catalyst/reaction medium can be easily reused for consecutive reaction runs, without any apparent loss in efficiency.

This study has been performed in the Nephrology and Dialysis Unit, in Desio Hospital, Italy. The aim of this study is to evaluate, starting from research questions, which information is given to patient in the pre-dialysis colloquia for his/her chosen dialysis methods. Moreover, the study evaluated feelings, emotions and fears since the announcement of the necessity of dialysis treatment.
