Aims And Background: To analyze stage distribution and biological features of interval cancers observed in Verona mammography screening compared to screen-detected cancers and "clinical" cancers occurring in the absence of screening, as provided by the Veneto Cancer Registry.
Methods And Study Design: Screen-detected cancers were identified in the screening archives. Interval cancers and clinical cancers (occurring in women never screened or not yet invited) were identified through the local cancer registry.
Context: To present the case of an unusual presentation at imaging of a very small solid undifferentiated pancreatic adenocarcinoma which mimics a side-branch intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm.
Case Report: The patient came to our hospital for a revaluation of a cystic pancreatic lesion. Ultrasound (US) and contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) examinations were carried out.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to assess the diagnostic value of hepatocellular nodule vascularity after microbubble injection for characterization of malignancy in patients with cirrhosis of the liver.
Materials And Methods: After sulfur hexafluoride-filled microbubble injection, the vascularity of 236 hepatocellular nodules (1-5 cm in diameter) in 215 patients with cirrhosis (151 men, 64 women; mean age, 62 +/- 11 [SD] years) was evaluated by consensus of three reference radiologists. The relation between nodule vascularity in the arterial (10-40 seconds from injection) and portal venous (45 seconds to microbubble disappearance) phases and dimension of malignancy was evaluated by multivariate U statistical analysis.
Objective: The purpose of this series is to describe the value of contrast-enhanced ultrasonography (CEUS) in the characterization of small pseudopapillary tumors (SPTs) of the pancreas.
Methods: Two cases of SPTs found on conventional ultrasonography, both located at the pancreatic body, were studied with spiral computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and CEUS. A final diagnosis was obtained with histologic analysis after distal pancreatectomy.
