The pediatric definition of severe obesity (OB) depends on the body mass index (BMI) references. We evaluated different BMI-derived metrics of the World Health Organization (WHO) system to define which cut-off is associated with the highest cardiometabolic risk (CMR); In this multicentric study, data were retrieved for 3727 youths (1937 boys; 2225 children, 1502 adolescents). OB was defined as BMI > 97th percentile (BMI), severe OB was defined as BMI > 99th percentile (BMI), BMI ≥ 120% of the 97th percentile (120% BMI), or BMI Z-score > 3 (WHO tables), or BMI ≥ the International Obesity Task Force (IOTF) value crossing a BMI of 35 kg/m at the age of 18 (IOTF).

We present a case of T1DM onset in a 6-year-old child, already affected by 21-hydroxylase deficiency (salt-wasting CAH) diagnosed at 18 days of age, who was referred to our clinic because of typical symptoms of diabetes despite nondiagnostic fasting blood glucose values. Further analysis revealed elevated glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), low C-peptide, and specific autoantibodies suggesting the diagnosis of T1DM.

To date, more than 130 TTR point mutations are known to destabilise the TTR tetramer, leading to its extracellular pathological aggregation accumulating in several organs, such as heart, peripheral and autonomic nerves, and leptomeninges. Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the association between sensitivity to TH and mild reduced estimated glomerular filtration rate (MReGFR) in euthyroid children and adolescents with OW/OB.
Background And Aim: To evaluate the relationship between HDL-Cholesterol (HDL-C), hypertension, and left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) in a large sample of Caucasian youths with overweight/obesity (OW/OB).
Methods And Results: A cross-sectional multicenter study was performed in 1469 youths (age 6-16 years) with OW/OB observed in the period 2016-2020. An additional independent sample of 244 youths with an echocardiographic evaluation, observed in a single center was analyzed.
Purpose: The young working group of the Italian Association of Medical and Health Physics (AIFM) designed a survey to assess the current situation of the under 35 AIFM members.
Methods: An online survey including 65 questions was designed to gather personal information, educational issues, working and research experience, and to evaluate the AIFM activities. The survey was distributed to the under 35 members between November 2022 and February 2023, through the young AIFM mailing list and social media.

This Position Statement updates the different components of the therapy of obesity (lifestyle intervention, drugs, and surgery) in children and adolescents, previously reported in the consensus position statement on pediatric obesity of the Italian Society of Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetology and the Italian Society of Pediatrics. Lifestyle intervention is the first step of treatment. In children older than 12 years, pharmacotherapy is the second step, and bariatric surgery is the third one, in selected cases.

Methods And Results: A cross-sectional study was performed in 1189 Caucasian youths with OW/OB aged 5-17 years, in whom impaired fasting glucose and high glycosylated hemoglobin were excluded. The sample was divided into training set (TS) (n = 883) and validation set (VS) (n = 306).
Herein we report our synthetic efforts in supporting the development of the bile alcohol sulfate INT-767, a FXR/TGR5 dual agonist with remarkable therapeutic potential for liver disorders. We describe the process development to a final route for large scale preparation and analogues synthesis. Key sequences include Grignard addition, a one-pot two-step shortening-reduction of the carboxylic side chain, and the final sulfation reaction.
