Supramolecular Adducts of Anionic Porphyrins and a Biocompatible Polyamine: Effect of Photodamage-on Human Red Blood Cells.

Supramolecular adducts obtained by interaction between the anionic porphyrin meso-tetrakis(4-carboxyphenyl)porphyrin (TPPC) or its zinc(II) derivative (ZnTPPC) with a biocompatible amino-terminated polypropylene or poly(ethylene oxide)s (Jeffamines) has been investigated. The interaction with the polymer allows the stabilization of the porphyrins in their monomeric form under physiological conditions. The photodynamic properties of the supramolecular adducts were explored by typical 1O2 indirect detection.
