Introduction: Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) is a prevalent, multifactorial form of hair loss involving complex aetiological factors, such as altered androgen regulation and energy metabolism. Existing treatments offer limited success, thus highlighting the need for advanced, personalised therapeutic strategies. This study focuses on correlating the genetic mechanisms of AGA with molecular targets involved in the response to current treatment modalities.

Study Design: Guide Dogs and Border Collies that presented for routine computed tomography (CT) screening for elbow dysplasia prior to breeding were evaluated. All dogs had no documented history of lameness.
Purpose: Obesity is a multifactorial condition with a relevant genetic correlation. Recent advances in genomic research have identified several single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in genes such as FTO, MCM6, HLA, and MC4R, associated with obesity. This study aimed to evaluate the association of 102 SNPs with BMI and weight loss treatment response in a multi-ethnic population.

The aim of the present study was to analyse the role of exercises' resistance profile in regional hypertrophy. Thirty-eight healthy women completed a 9-week resistance training program consisting of either 4 sets of 12 repetitions to volitional failure of inclined bicep curls (INC group) or preacher curls (PREA group), three times per week. Pre- and post-intervention muscle thickness was measured using B-mode ultrasound imaging with a linear-array transducer.

The potential risk that progenitor cells included in fat graft tissue may contribute to disease progression in patients with breast cancer is still debatable.

When combined with post-mastectomy radiation therapy (PMRT) two different schemas are possible: radiating the temporary tissue expander (TTE) or the permanent implant (PI). The present article intends to be the biggest cohort meta-analysis to the date comparing reconstructive failure (RF) rate in these two scenarios: PMRT to TE compared with PMRT to PI.

For example, polymers are widely used as a supporting layer but unfortunately have low strain-point temperatures. This is the case of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) which has glass transition and melting temperatures of 76 and 250 °C, respectively.

In this study, EGFP-Lifeact and confocal microscopy has been used to analyze the re-organization of the cortical F-actin cytoskeleton associated to organelle transport during secretion with unprecedented detail. In these cells secretory events accumulate in temperature-sensitive and myosin II-dependent F-actin expansions and retractions affecting specific regions of the sub-membrane space.

Mephedrone is a new synthetic cathinone-derived drug. It is a sympathomimetic drug, and its structure is similar to amphetamines, although its specific pharmacokinetics and metabolism remain unknown. We performed a literature search in PUBMED with the following key words: Mephedrone AND Necrosis AND Hand.

In order to extend such experimental findings to the physiological situation, it is necessary to study mayor cellular structures affecting secretion in cultured cells with their counterparts present in the adrenomedullary tissue. F-actin concentrates in a peripheral ring in cultured cells, as witnessed by phalloidin-rodhamine labeling, while extends throughout the cytoplasm in native cells.

Vascular measures were made in 53 young (18-40 years) female smokers and 25 age-matched non-smokers. Twenty-two of the smokers were tested before and after a 14-week smoking cessation program and, of these, 13 were tested again after 52 weeks of smoking cessation.

Method: A retrospective review was conducted and patients with gastrointestinal lymphoma diagnosed by histopathology (including immunohistochemistry, where available) or cytology that had an abdominal ultrasound were included.
Results: Four of 15 (26·7%) cases with histopathologically confirmed lymphoma exhibited no sonographic abnormalities.
It has been proposed recently that the F-actin cytoskeleton organizes the relative disposition of the SNARE proteins and calcium channels that form part of the secretory machinery in chromaffin cells, a neurosecretory model. To test this idea, we used confocal microscopy do determine if DsRed-SNAP-25 microdomains, which define the final sites of exocytosis along with syntaxin-1, preferentially remain in contact with F-actin cortical structures labelled by lifeact-EGFP. A quantitative analysis showed that in cells over-expressing these constructs there is a preferential colocalization, rather than a random distribution of SNAP-25 patches.

Methods: Twelve healthy subjects underwent lower-body negative pressure (LBNP, -40 mmHg) as well as static handgrip exercise (HG, 20% of maximal force) followed by post-exercise forearm circulatory occlusion (PECO, 5 min each) with and without α-adrenergic blockade induced by phentolamine (PHE). Aortic blood flow, finger blood pressure and superficial femoral artery blood flow were measured to calculate cardiac output, SVC and leg vascular conductance (LVC) during the last minute of each intervention.
Somatosensory afferents are represented within the cortical autonomic network (CAN). However, the representation of somatosensory afferents, and the consequent cardiovascular effects, may be modified by levels of baroreceptor input. Thus, we examined the cortical regions involved with processing somatosensory inputs during baroreceptor unloading.

Sympathetic nerve activity is an important regulator of blood pressure and blood flow in humans. Our understanding about how sympathetic neurons are recruited during baroreflex stress is limited. This paper investigates the sympathetic neural recruitment patterns during the Valsalva maneuver.

Heart rate (HR) and waveforms of brachial artery blood pressure (Finometer) and forearm blood flow (Doppler ultrasound) were measured in baseline conditions and during infusion of noradrenaline (NA; αAR agonist), with and without phentolamine (αAR antagonist; n = 10; 6 men and 4 women). These baseline and αAR-agonist-based measures were repeated when the arm was positioned above or below the heart to modify the myogenic stimulus.

Two key activities in the pharmaceutical industry are considered, namely clinical research and pharmacovigilance, all scenarios that take place in the daily practice of these activities are developed and procedures for the use of personal data and irreversible dissociation are established, with these last being exempt from the application of data protection legislation. It develops a protocol that includes the guidelines to follow with regard to the exercise of rights of access, rectification, cancellation and opposition exercised by those affected and stipulates the supervisory functions of the Code by the Monitoring Committee.
