Monthly data of abiotic variables (sea surface temperature; minimum and maximum air temperature; minimum, mean and maximum air humidity; minimum, mean and maximum atmospheric pressure; minimum, mean and maximum dew point; sea surface salinity; wind speed and direction; minimum and maximum tidal level and photosynthetically available radiation) were collected from different online repositories, all regarding the period between January 2013 and December 2017, from localities near Mar Casado Beach rocky shore, in São Paulo State southern coast, Brazil. Principal Component Analysis was performed to verify data variance and correlations among variables. Linear regression decomposition methods were applied to identify trend and seasonal patterns within the time indexed data.

Objective: To evaluate the destruction complex of beta-catenin by the expression of the proteins beta-catetenin, adenomatous polyposis coli, GSK3β, axin and ubiquitin in colorectal carcinoma and colonic adenoma.

Methods: Tissue samples from 64 patients with colorectal carcinoma and 53 patients with colonic adenoma were analyzed. Tissue microarray blocks and slides were prepared and subjected to immunohistochemistry with polyclonal antibodies in carcinoma, adjacent non-neoplastic mucosa, and adenoma tissues.

Objective: To perform an analysis of the costs of treatment of varicose ulcers by radical surgery of varices and the use of Unna boot.

Methods: Fifteen outpatients were selected to receive treatment of varicose ulcers with radical surgery and Unna boot. The total cost of treatment was calculated (hospitalization, surgery, dressings, and outpatient's follow-up visits) and compared to the cost of clinical follow-up with daily simple dressing changes.

Background: Rabeprazole, a substituted benzimidazole, represents a new generation of proton pump inhibitors that has recently been approved by the FDA and European Union for treatment of acid-related diseases.

Objectives: To assess the efficacy and tolerability of rabeprazole 20 mg in actual conditions of use in everyday clinical practice on subjects with diagnosis of erosive gastroesophageal reflux disease and/or gastric and/or duodenal ulcer.

Patients/methods: A total of 171 outpatients (55% men, 45% women) with a mean age of 42.

Cattle tick infestations constitute a major problem for the cattle industry in tropical and subtropical regions of the world. Traditional control methods have been only partially successful, hampered by the selection of chemical-resistant tick populations. The Boophilus microplus Bm86 protein was isolated from tick gut epithelial cells and shown to induce a protective response against tick infestations in vaccinated cattle.

Throughout most of the twentieth century, tick infestations on cattle have been controlled with chemical acaricides, typically administered by dipping or spraying. This approach can cause environmental and residue problems and has created a high incidence of acaricide resistance within tick populations in the field. Recently we developed a vaccine against Boophilus microplus employing a recombinant Bm86 antigen preparation (Gavac), (Heber Biotec S.
